BRUGO Travel Coffee Mug-Review and Giveaway

I have a deep love of hot beverages. When I wake up in the morning, the first thing I do is make a steaming pot of coffee. And when nighttime rolls around, there is nothing I enjoy more than a perfectly brewed cup of tea. I am completely addicted to hot drinks, and even in the summer I rarely skip my morning coffee.

The one time I usually don’t indulge in a hot beverage, however, is when I am traveling. I invariably seem to burn myself when I first take a sip of my drink and then let it cool far too long, usually to the point that it is completely unappetizing. So when I heard about the BRUGO, a revolutionary travel mug designed to keep hot beverages at the perfect temperature, I couldn’t wait to try it out for myself.

I received the BRUGO mug in Seaglass for review. The system consists of a specially designed mug and lid that work together to ensure that coffee and other hot drinks are always at the perfect drinking temperature. The mug contains a patented Temperature Control Chamber, an extra ring around the top edge of the mug that allows hot beverages to enter when the mug is tipped. Once the chamber is full, a gentle swishing motion quickly cools the beverage to a drinkable temperature.

The locking lid features a dial that is turned to adjust the mug’s three different convenient settings. The Lock setting closes the mug to prevent spills. The Sip setting converts the BRUGO to a regular travel mug. But the Tip & Cool setting is what sets the BRUGO apart from a conventional coffee mug. Once the Tip & Cool feature has been chosen on the lid, the Temperature Control Chamber is ready to be used.

I couldn’t wait to put this unique mug to the test, so I decided that I would use it for my morning coffee for the next few weeks, regardless of whether or not I was actually traveling. The next morning, I poured my coffee into the BRUGO mug. I appreciated that there was a small tab on both the mug and the lid that lined up with one another to ensure that I had the lid on correctly. I turned the dial to the Tip & Cool setting. It was incredibly stiff at first, but as the instructions stated, the heat from the mug soon relaxed the dial and made it easier to adjust.

I tipped the mug away from me to fill the inner chamber. I was amazed by just how far back I could tip it without a spill. The mug was completely horizontal when I tipped it back but it didn’t lose a drop of coffee. I shook the mug back and forth to cool the coffee and then took a sip.

The coffee was definitely cooler and completely tolerable to drink. It was hot enough for me to want to sip carefully, but not so hot that it actually burnt my tongue. I was able to drink my coffee immediately instead of waiting for it to cool, which was such a nice change. As an added bonus, the insulated mug kept my coffee hot and delicious until the last drop!

Using the BRUGO mug definitely takes a bit of practice. It took me about a week to find a swishing method that didn’t feel awkward and effectively cooled my drink. I eventually learned that I was able to tip the mug backwards to fill the chamber, turn the mug upright again and swish it around the same way I would swirl a glass of wine. The motion was one that I found easy and that cooled the coffee to an appropriate degree for me. And after practicing the movement for a few days, I was able to perform it almost automatically every time I took a sip.

The BRUGO is especially suited to true coffee connoisseurs that favor the flavor of a black cup of coffee, since adding cream sometimes cools coffee to a drinkable temperature anyways. But because it features the adaptable lid, the BRUGO mug can always be used as a regular mug when coffee is already at a drinkable temperature, and the insulated body helps to ensure that it stays that way. I really enjoyed using the BRUGO mug, and the unique features meant that every hot drink I put into it was drinkable right away. I’m glad to know that when I’m craving a perfect cup of coffee, the BRUGO will be waiting for me.
