In less than a month, my youngest baby will be celebrating his first birthday. (Doesn’t the time just zip by!) The first birthday usually brings a collection of great milestones: the first step, the first word…and of course, the discovery that hurling items to the ground is really, really fun!
Benjamin hasn’t yet tried his hand at walking or communicated with enough clarity that I can be sure he’s actually talking, but he has definitely discovered the wonders of gravity. For the most part, I don’t mind when he intentionally drops his toys, but in the grocery store or the car I would certainly rather have the objects he puts in his mouth kept off of the dirty floor.
Pippalily Ltd. has created a sensational and versatile solution with their stylish Simply on Board toy straps. These handy little harnesses are sold in packs of two and come in a great choice of colors to satisfy even the most discriminating diva mother. I was thrilled when I was given a chance to review the toy straps for myself.
I received a two-pack of straps in black to review. The package features one strap in the solid color and one strap printed with white polka dots. I chose the solid black strap for my first test item.
The straps feature Velcro closures at each end. One end is attached to the stroller, car seat or high chair while the other adjustable end secures the bottle, cup or toy that the baby is using. I took Benjamin’s favorite rattle and attached it to the adjustable end of the strap, and then secured the other end to his car seat arm.
Unlike most babies, my son absolutely hates car rides, but with a toy to keep him occupied he will usually tolerate the journey. Unfortunately, since he has become so fond of throwing his toys, he usually loses his distraction after just a few minutes of driving. I was counting on the Simply on Board toy strap to keep Benjamin’s toy close at hand and make our next trip a little more peaceful.
When we buckled ourselves into the car, I handed Benjamin the rattle and he spent a few minutes shaking it energetically. When he grew bored and threw the rattle away, I simply reached back and pulled it up again. He was a little bewildered by this turn of events, but was unquestionably amused, and he grinned as he grabbed the rattle and tossed it away once again.
Zackary, sitting beside him, was thrilled with this new concept as well, and happily took over my job of pulling on the toy strap to retrieve the rattle. Benjamin’s good humor lasted at least twice as long as it usually does in a vehicle, thanks to the Simply on Board toy straps!
I used the other toy strap on Benjamin’s high chair. There may be no way of stopping his food from flying off the tray and onto the floor, but I was happy that I could at least ensure that his bottle remained easily retrievable!
My favorite feature of the Simply on Board toy straps is the adjustable Velcro that can be adapted to fit on objects ranging from sippy cups to teething rings. I also appreciated the fact that the adjustable strip gave me so much control over the length of the toy strap. Thanks to that adaptability, I could create a strap length of anywhere between ten and fourteen inches to ensure that I always had a strap that was perfectly sized for any situation.
The Simply on Board toy straps have made traveling with my baby so much easier, and they are so simple to use that I even have one stashed in my purse for emergencies! To keep your baby’s items clean and save the strain on your back, pick up a pack of Simply on Board toy straps for yourself!
