Since I started review blogging, I have really fallen in love with cosmetics. Discovering mineral makeup was the greatest gift my easily irritated acne-prone skin could have asked for, and has turned me from makeup minimalist to devoted diva. A whole new world of colors and products has opened up before me, and I never pass up a chance to test out great new cosmetics.
Orglamix has one of the most amazing collections of mineral makeup on the market, and the organic formulations of the products lets me know that the environment is benefiting as much as I am from their use. I was recently lucky enough to test out any three Orglamix cosmetics, and I couldn’t wait to get started.
Choosing the products to test was no easy task, because the huge collection of cosmetics and the dazzling array of color choices were quite simply unbelievable. I browsed for hours, pining over the different products, before finally deciding to test the Menthe Pure Organic Mineral Perfecting Corrector, the Tourmaline Pure Organic Mineral Glow and the Copper Duochrome Aura Effects Pure Organic Mineral Eyeshadow.
The cosmetics arrived beautifully packaged in a satin bag, and I pulled them out eagerly. The mineral formulations come in sleek black-lidded shaker jars, and I decided to test the Menthe Pure Organic Mineral Perfecting Corrector right away.
One of the things I struggle with as far as my skin is concerned is some acne scarring that is always incredibly hard to cover. In fact, one of the scars is on my nose and I find it so irritating that I think I may eventually be able to conquer my fear of needles in order to get it surgically minimized. In the meantime, however, I make due with concealer and foundation, which usually cover most of the redness for an hour or so and then wear off.
A green-toned corrector is one of the absolute best ways to neutralize redness, so I was understandably eager to see how the light green perfecting corrector would work on my red spots. I first used a large brush to reduce some minor redness on my forehead and even out my complexion. Then, I used my fingertips to dab the corrector onto my scars. I blended it in carefully and then applied my foundation overtop. I still saw just the faintest outline of my scars, but if I hadn’t known that they were there, I don’t think they would have been noticeable at all. More importantly, the redness actually stayed covered until the end of the day! The corrector did a wonderful job of toning down the redness so that my foundation could properly cover the scarring.
The next item I tested was the Copper Duochrome Aura Effects Eyeshadow. This is quite possibly the most amazing eyeshadow I have ever used. The powder looked white in the shaker jar, but when I held it up to the light, I saw a coppery shine instead. I tapped the powder into the lid, and was amazed by what I saw. The clumps of powder looked completely white, but in the places where the eyeshadow was thinly scattered, it was a brilliant copper shade!
I used a large eyeshadow brush to sweep the eyeshadow over my lids and then put a light dusting of powder below my brows as well. The color on my skin was very subtle and added just a bit of color…until the light caught my eyes. When it did, the eyeshadow performed the same dazzling color effect that I had seen when it was in the jar. The flash of copper on my lids was just sensational, and I probably spent at least five minutes turning my head back and forth and watching the shadow shimmer on my eyes.
The final product that I tested was the Tourmaline Pure Organic Mineral Glow. The description explained that the powder would provide sheer coverage and impart a natural, healthy glow. I was surprised at how much sparkle the powder had when I tapped it out into the lid, but when I brushed it onto my cheeks I found that the effect was just perfect. The shimmer was nice and subtle, and added a perfect glowing look to my face.
Once I’ve finished applying my makeup, I love to apply the Tourmaline glow to brighten up my look and add a bit of polish. I tend to apply the powder a little more heavily on my cheeks because I love the way it highlights my cheekbones. Then, I finish my look with a quick, light application of powder on my forehead, nose and chin with my bronzer brush.
Orglamix also carries blush, foundation, concealer and specialty shimmer and prepping cosmetics. The choice is unbelievable, and Orglamix offers tons of fun specials, including a color of the week cosmetic and a Try Me Eyeshadow Beauty Box. My favorite feature has to be the Look Book collections, coordinated kits of eyeshadow colors designed to let customers create stunning eye looks that match the Orglamix photos. The eye looks range from simpler looks using only two colors to bold and beautiful looks that incorporate six different eyeshadow shades. I never tire of looking through these photos and daydreaming about which eye look I might like to try.
Overall, I adore my Orglamix cosmetics. The amazing effects that I can create are so much fun and continue to amaze me each and every time I use the makeup. The corrector is a godsend for covering up my red spots, and the glow has become my go-to product for making sure that I look my absolute best before I walk out the door.
