Holiday Gift for the Fashionable Mom

Is there anything more frustrating than unattractive baby accessories? Whether it’s a nursing cover with a bland color or an overly sized and overly childish diaper bag, nothing is worse than feeling like becoming a mother has robbed you of your style. I have a few pet peeves when it comes to unattractive baby goods, but my biggest one is most definitely the diaper bag. Why would anyone design a diaper bag with a style that only a very small child would find attractive? After all, the baby isn’t the one carrying it, I am!

I was recently lucky enough to be able to review the Bumkins Grande diaper bag in Pink Paisley, and I was absolutely giddy about the opportunity.

When the bag arrived, I pulled it out and sighed in rapture. The bag was a gorgeous chocolate brown with a stunning paisley pattern on the side done in various shades of pink. The interior of the bag was lined with a coordinating pink paisley fabric and even included a matching change pad! There was no doubt that the Bumkins diaper bag was as fashionable as I could have wished, but what I really wanted to see was whether it had the functionality to match.

I sat down to examine the bag, and was soon overjoyed once again. The Bumkins diaper bag takes organization to a whole new level. With five pockets on the interior of the bag and three on the exterior, there is a place for absolutely everything. I knew within a few minutes that I could use the bag not just as a diaper bag, but also as a carryall purse thanks to the multiple pockets!The change pad had its own pocket on half of one side of the diaper bag, so I stashed a few spare diapers and a case of wipes right beside it. The two small pockets on the short ends of the bag were perfect for holding bottles or other small items. I used one to hold a bottle of water for Benjamin and the other to keep my wallet close at hand and easily accessible.

The other side of the bag was one large pocket that closed with a Velcro strap. I decided it was the perfect place to put my reusable produce bags and packed them in carefully before fastening the strap. Finally, I placed a few wrapped snacks and some toys in the bottom of the bag for child emergencies.

The two end pockets on the exterior of the bag were a nice size and perfect for items that I wanted to grab quickly. I used one to hold my coupons and the other to carry my small makeup bag containing lip-gloss, perfume and a few other essentials.

With that, I was done and I hadn’t even found a use for the large exterior pocket yet! I was amazed at how much the bag was able to hold. It still looked so empty, yet I had absolutely everything I might possibly need neatly and carefully tucked inside. The next morning, I happily headed out the door with the bag slung over my shoulder.

The difference between carrying a large, shapeless diaper bag and the stylish Bumkins bag was like night and day. I felt positively energized as I walked to the school with my sons, and knowing that items for any eventuality were stowed in my bag and ready to pull out at a moment’s notice was a great comfort.
