I am not a fan of cleaning. But with three messy boys in the house, cleaning is, whether I like it or not, a major part of my day. From the daily chores like sweeping, vacuuming and picking up toys to the bigger jobs like cleaning the bathroom or washing the walls, there is always another job ahead of me. So when I roll up my sleeves and get to work, I want my cleaning supplies to be the best available. I’ve found it’s almost always true that the better the tools are, the easier the job will be.
Nobody knows more about effective cleaning than Bissell. After all, the company has been providing quality floor cleaning products for over 125 years! I have been a big fan of Bissell’s products for quite some time, and so when I was given a chance to review some of Bissell’s incredible products for myself, I couldn’t wait to get started.
I received the Bissell Little Green compact deep cleaner to review. One of the things that I love about Bissell is that the company shows so much consideration for the environment with their products. The Bissell Little Green is the perfect example of that. The unit contains at least 50% recycled plastic, features PVC-free water tanks and uses a sensational earth friendly cleaning formula. I have a strong paranoia of chemical cleaning products, so knowing that the 2X Concentrated Little Green Advanced Formula was non-toxic, biodegradable and free of phosphates and dyes was a dream come true.
As soon as I received the cleaner, I knew exactly what I would be using it for. I have a large area rug that I purchased when I was eighteen and furnishing my first apartment. My husband and I both loved the design of the rug and we took it with us when we moved into our house, but it had never been cleaned and the years of dirt and grime accumulated in the rug meant that all it was currently fit for was covering a portion of the concrete floor in our unfinished basement. Thanks to the Bissell Little Green, I finally had the means to make the rug useable again.Using the machine was so incredibly easy. There are convenient lines on the side of the Solution/Clean tank that let me know how much cleaner and how much water to put in the tank. I put the proper amount of cleaner in the tank and then added hot tap water until I reached the appropriate level. I screwed the cap back onto the tank and popped it back onto the base. Just like that, I was ready to clean!
My husband decided that he wanted to be the first one to test out the unit, so I plugged it in, switched the machine on and handed him the hose. He sprayed a section of carpet with the cleaning solution using the trigger on the incredibly handy TurboBrush and then slowly used the brush to work the formula into the fibres of the carpet. When he had scrubbed the fabric thoroughly, he flipped the switch on the side of the brush to activate the suction. He then pressed down firmly on the rug to extract the dirty water from the fabric. The Bissell Little Green worked wonderfully, and I was completely thrilled by how clean the carpet looked. But when my husband decided to tackle a large and ugly rust stain on the middle of the rug, I must admit I had my doubts about whether the stain could be completely removed. My husband sprayed the solution onto the stain, scrubbed it for about two or three minutes and then used the suction to remove the dirty water. He had to repeat the process, but when he finished removing the water the second time, I was shocked and thrilled to see that the stain was completely gone!
The rug was fairly large and cleaning it took some time, but when we were done, it was worth every minute. A rug that I had honestly thought would probably go into the garbage at some point in the near future was instead rescued and restored to almost-new condition. What a great testament to the eco-friendly beliefs that the Bissell Little Green embraces!
The design of the Bissell Little Green is intended to satisfy two key cleaning needs, convenience and portability. In my opinion, it fulfills both requirements perfectly. The compact, easy-to-carry design with a built-in handle lets me move the machine to anywhere that I need it, and the long power cord ensures I can still reach an outlet in the most remote locations. The small size makes this compact deep cleaner the perfect choice for stairs, car interiors and other hard-to-reach areas. It’s also a sensational machine for upholstery cleaning and as soon as the weather warms up a bit, I’ll definitely be using the Bissell Little Green to tackle our couch and chair. Both children have a tendancy to spill food and drinks quite regularly, and the furniture is starting to show it.
Overall, I loved how convenient it was to clean with the Bissell Little Green compact deep cleaner. With just a simple on/off button to power the unit and the incredibly effective TurboBrush to help remove set-in stains, getting the deep clean I needed was so easy. Effective, efficient, eco-friendly and oh so simple…the Bissell Little Green has it all in a perfect compact size. Check it out for yourself!
