I have always hated trying to take the temperature of a baby or a toddler. When Zackary was a baby, even having a doctor take his temperature at the hospital was often a stressful experience. One hospital used an ear thermometer to take my son’s temperature. The other hospital insisted that the ear wasn’t accurate and that the only proper way to get a reading was by using a rectal thermometer. In both cases, Zackary cried and fussed and we had to work hard to keep him still until the process was done. I couldn’t help but feel like there had to be a better way.
Finally, I’ve found one. The Exergen Temporal Scanner is an amazing revolution in home health solutions that offers a quick, easy and painless method of taking the temperature that is suitable for everyone from newborns to adults. I couldn’t wait to test it out for myself.
The Exergen Temporal Scanner scans the temporal artery to determine body temperature from readings taken from the forehead. By simply placing the sensor in the centre of the forehead and then sliding it over to the temple, the device takes 1000 readings per second and calculates body temperature. I couldn’t wait to see how it worked.
As it happened, both of my boys got quite badly sick near the end of May. Zackary was lethargic and irritable suddenly one day and when I felt his forehead it seemed warmer than normal. I grabbed the Exergen Temporal Scanner and checked his temperature. Sure enough, the reading was 102 degrees. Zackary got a teaspoon of Children’s Advil and he fell asleep shortly thereafter.
The real surprise, however, was when Benjamin came over demanding to have his temperature read as well. I was surprised to learn that he was almost as feverish as his brother since he hadn’t shown any of the symptoms Zackary was displaying. I kept a careful eye on him after that and by bedtime, he was also in need of medication to lower his temperature a bit.
The fever passed quickly, thank goodness. By the next day Zackary had pretty much recovered and Benjamin, who never did get as sick as his brother, was under the weather for about half a week but was soon as good as new too. Aside from a very slight cough, neither boy showed any other symptoms of illness and I still have no idea what caused the sudden fever.
But what impressed me about the event was how easy taking their temperatures with the Exergen Temporal Scanner had been. In fact, both boys were so delighted with the scanner that they requested it for days afterwards and when any of their friends happened to be visiting, they inevitably requested to have their temperatures taken as well. Of course, everyone I scanned was pretty consistent at about 97 degrees but what was so wonderful was that instead of fighting to take my children’s temperatures, I actually had children requesting the process!
Overall, the Exergen Temporal Scanner has been a lifesaver in our household and I will never fret about taking my kids’ temperatures again. Using the device is so quick and so accurate that I honestly can’t believe everyone in the world doesn’t use one. If taking your baby or child’s temperature is something you always avoided in the past, you have to try the Exergen Temporal Scanner for yourself. It’s a confirmed must-have for any family with young children!

Measure only the side of the head that is exposed. Any covering, hair, hat, etc. will prevent the heat from dissipating, and would cause the reading to be falsely high. This also applies if one side of the head is into a pillow.
