Who Am I? How To Answer the Single Most Important Question You’ll Ever Ask by Lori Chance-CLOSED

Not having direction in your life can be a very scary thing. It’s so hard to know which path to take or which choice to make when the time to make a big decision finally arrives. Often, not knowing what direction is the right one for us occurs because we aren’t sure what we want. And when we aren’t sure what we want, it’s usually because we don’t know who we are.

who am i cover Who am I? Those three short words can start a tumult of questions for most people. What makes me who I am? What do I need to feel fulfilled? What do I need to change in my life? Author Lori Chance wants to help women everywhere answer those questions with her inspiring book Who Am I? How To Answer the Single Most Important Question You’ll Ever Ask.

I received a copy of the book to review and I couldn’t wait to see what it was like. I leafed through the pages and the first thing I noticed was that it was more than just chapters of advice. With exercises and activities to help women discover themselves more fully, Who Am I? is half self-help book and half workbook. I was so excited to see that the activities I needed to help understand myself better were right there inside the book.

There is a strong emphasis on core values in the book, because really, core values are what define us as people. I loved the statement that there were no “right” or “wrong” core values; the only important thing to decide was whether my core values were working for me.

The activities led me through the experience of identifying some of my own values from the extensive list that was included. I learned that Respect, Integrity and Individuality were all important values to me and that often when I felt most annoyed with my husband, it was because he had unknowingly obstructed one of my core values. Just knowing that made the annoyance much easier to deal with since I was able to identify and articulate what was bothering me more clearly.

I didn’t even realize it until this book arrived, but I have no idea who I am! I dedicated myself so fully to being a wife and mother for the last five years that any desires or needs that I had got pushed aside in my quest to make sure that my family was happy and fulfilled. I didn’t know why I was increasingly impatient or why I got irritated so easily as time went on. But I am starting to realize that putting so much focus on my husband and sons meant that I was depriving my inner self. I haven’t yet completed all of the activities in the book, but I already have a better understanding of what I need in my life to be happy and I am eagerly looking forward to the future, especially with my newfound knowledge!

Lori Chance has lots of great resources on her website as well, from informative blog posts to a free video series. Whether you’re living your dream life or feeling increasingly lost each day, knowing a little bit more about yourself is always a good thing. And Who Am I? is the perfect way to do that. The book was easy to read, the exercises were interesting to complete and the awareness that I have gained since receiving this book has been profound. When we are constantly trying to live up to the expectations of those we love, it can be far too easy to forget that our inner self has expectations too. So why not check out this intriguing book and take a moment to ask yourself, “Who am I?”

This sounds like an amazing book, allowing you real insight into who you are. I think my main core value is honesty. I try to teach it to my kids, because if you can’t trust that someone is honest, it doesn’t matter who they are.
