Every once in a while, a piece of the past is discovered that gives the world a new insight into a well-known public figure. It’s a rare thing, but when it happens, it truly is like stepping back in time to meet a person from the past.
Recently, Kentucky Fried Chicken was lucky enough to be given just such a special moment when an employee of the company discovered the unpublished food autobiography of founder Colonel Sanders himself in the company’s Louisville archival storage facility.
The document is more than four decades old and contains excerpts from Colonel Sander’s life, stories about his values and beliefs and, most importantly of all, his own treasured collection of favourite recipes. Needless, to say, the entire company is blown away. The book could well have remained in the storage facility for many more years without anyone realizing what it was, but thanks to the veteran employee that made the discovery and recognized the importance of the book, KFC has gained a valuable new insight into the life of its founder. And the company can’t wait to spread their excitement!
