If your ideal date night involves cuddling up to watch a good movie together, you’re in luck because One for the Money, eOne Films’ newest romantic action comedy starring Katherine Heigl and Jason O’Mara, is available on DVD May 15, 2012 and its clever combination of action and humour makes it a perfect choice for any couple. Here’s a brief synopsis:
Stephanie Plum is a bright, attractive, confident woman whose entire life has just taken a sudden turn – in the totally wrong direction. Newly divorced and recently laid off, the only work she can scrape up is a dead-end job at her sleazy cousin’s bail bond office. But when her first big assignment involves tracking down an on-the-lam ex-flame, this tough-as-nails lady bounty hunter will be redefining the meaning of hot pursuit in this thrill-packed action comedy.
I had never heard of this movie before and wasn’t sure what to expect when I put it on. But within the first few minutes, I was already caught up in the story and laughing at the antics of born-and-bred Jersey-girl Stephanie, whose failed attempts at bounty-hunting and awkward altercations with her intended target were absolutely comical.
But as well as being incredibly funny, this movie has a great plotline that’s sure to keep the men interested. Joe Morelli is no ordinary bail-jumper. A former cop being charged with murder, Morelli is determined to clear his name and Stephanie is equally determined to bring him in and claim the $50,000 prize that’s on his head. The more she learns about the case, the closer she gets not just to catching Morelli, but to discovering the truth about the murder he’s been accused of committing.
To help you relax and enjoy some time together, eOne Films is very generously offering one lucky Mommy Kat and Kids reader their own DVD copy of One for the Money! I wish this movie was family-friendly because it sounds great but after reading some reviews, I’ve decided it’s not. Why does Hollywood think it’s ok to put a few scenes and other-wise ok movie?
Yes, it’s definitely NOT a family-friendly movie! There’s no horribly violent scenes but there are scary ones and the whole plot revolves around Morelli’s murder accusation so it’s pretty mature content. Also, the language is pretty PG-13 too.
I loved it and it had me laughing out loud on numerous occasions. But I sure wouldn’t let my kids watch it!
I like action, comedy, and thrillers.
