Photography has never been one of my gifts and until I started blogging, I didn’t mind that at all. I have other talents but photography has never really been one of them. Thankfully, my husband is an amazing photographer and I often recruit his skills when I need a really good picture for my blog.
But even with his talent, there are those times when a picture just doesn’t turn out quite right. So when I got the chance to review the Corel Photo and Video X4 Ultimate Bundle, I was delighted. I couldn’t wait to turn ordinary pictures and videos into amazing ones with the help of these programs. The bundle included PaintShop Pro X4, VideoStudio Pro X4, free tutorial videos and a pair of 3D glasses!
I tried out the Corel PaintShop Pro X4 first and it took a little time to figure out some of the basic editing features of the program. I loved the fact that some of the quickest and easiest tools could be used with a single click. By clicking on the Adjust tab after selecting the picture I wanted to edit, I could then choose from some easy, one-button edits for my picture to fix red-eye, straighten a crooked picture or add quick makeover effects including suntan, teeth whitening and blemish correction.
I especially liked the Smart Photo Fix settings that automatically suggested optimal settings for my photos to improve contrast, brightness and colour. I used a few of the easy editing tools to touch up this picture of me and some of my blogging best friends at BlissDom Canada 2011. Doesn’t it look great?
While the one-click settings were perfect for me, my husband had fun getting much more in-depth with his photos. He especially liked adding framing effects to some of his favourite family photos. And the Clone Brush and Layer tools were just what he needed to fix some of the damage in his older photos.
We tested out the Corel VideoStudio Pro X4 next and it had the same mix of easy to use features and editing options to make it appropriate for everyone from beginners to experienced video editors. The Visual Effects and Sound Effects were especially fun for me to play around with and I loved the way that I could create 3D movies and then watch them with the included 3D glasses (glasses available in boxed version only).
We’ve been using the Corel Photo and Video Pro X4 programs for about a month now and we’ve still just barely scratched the surface of their capabilities. I can’t wait to spend the next few months really mastering all the things that these programs can do to help take my photos from average to amazing. If I were to win I would love the Photo Editing software. Im such a photo freak and LOVE photography. I’m only 13 and photograph mostly conceptual and surreal like photographs but ever bit of photography stuff is much fun! I have one of Corel’s programs already that I use like everyday. There programs are good. Pretty much like photoshop just so much more affordable.

Photo Software!!!
I would love to use the both of them!!! I love photography and have in the last 3 years really been getting more and more into it. I love capturing everything to scenery to my kids to animals. Having Corel X4 would make them so much better. And I would love to get into the video one. That’s something Ive never really done before. It would be awesome!!!!
THE video editor sounds great, for years my kids have made movies at home with scripts and costumes and while i am very impressed and the editing etc the manage to do already I can only imanie what they could come up with with this , would be awesome
