There’s something about the smooth porcelain skin of the Japanese geisha that simply radiates beauty. But such smooth and perfect skin isn’t something most women have. So when a 200-year-old book containing the beauty regime of the geisha was recently discovered, Tatcha was created so that every woman could enjoy these ancient beauty secrets. I recently got the chance to review this luxurious natural skincare line for myself and I couldn’t wait to see what it was like.
The Tatcha system really is more than a product line. It’s a ritual and every morning and night when I used the products I felt a little more luxurious once I’d finished. The core system contains four different products: PURE One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil, POLISHED Rice Enzyme Powders, RADIANT Deep Brightening Serum and SUPPLE Moisture Rich Silk Cream. All four products have an essential role in the system and contain their own unique ingredients based on the ancient Japanese secrets as well as an essential bioactive complex containing rice bran, red algae and green tea.
The first step to the system was the PURE One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil, which was to be rubbed into a dry face with dry fingertips for ten seconds. I’ve mentioned my frequent bouts of acne before and I have to admit I was a little nervous about rubbing oil into my face as the first step of my skincare regime. But the oil did an amazing job of lifting away dirt and makeup and because its application was immediately followed by the rice enzyme powder, I didn’t notice any flare-ups from my skin while using it.
The POLISHED Rice Enzyme Powder was by far my favourite product. This amazing powder comes in three different varieties: Deep, Classic and Gentle. It contains rice and papaya enzymes as its active ingredients and becomes a foamy cleanser when rubbed between wet hands. After applying it to my face and rinsing it off, I am always delighted by how smooth and soft my skin feels.
After drying my face, I move on to the third element of the skincare line: the RADIANT Deep Brightening Serum. This light liquid absorbs quickly into skin and promises to both prevent new age spots and lighten existing spots in four to eight weeks. After almost a month, have I noticed a difference? Not really, but it is still a little early to be seeing results so I have no doubt I’ll begin to enjoy increased clarity in my skin in the coming month.
The final product in the Tatcha system is the SUPPLE Moisture Rich Silk Cream. This cream is incredibly rich so if you have acne-prone skin as I do, only a small dab is needed. It contains silk and is a powerful anti-aging cream that also doubles as a natural primer when used before applying makeup. I made sure to always apply the lion’s share of the cream to my eye area, my cheeks and the slight lines on my forehead. Then I just used the bit of cream left on my fingertips to moisturize the rest of my face.
There were a few things that surprised me about the Tatcha Skincare line; the first was the fact that the products didn’t make my breakouts worse. I was pretty worried about increased acne when I started using the Tatcha system but even with the cleansing oil and the rich moisturizing cream, my acne didn’t flare up at all. The other surprise was what a difference Tatcha made in my overall skin tone. Before I started using the system, I had been getting pretty frustrated with how tired and old I was looking; late night blogging was starting to catch up to me and I wasn’t sure how to revive my look. The Tatcha products made a world of difference and after a few weeks using them I had a radiant, youthful glow that I absolutely loved.
As the icing on the cake, I received a package of Original Aburatorigami. These gold flake beauty papers are the perfect way to keep skin looking fresh without drying it out as powder papers sometimes do. I was promised that blotting my face with gold flake would leave me feeling deliciously feminine and I wasn’t disappointed! There really is something overwhelming exquisite about using these delicate papers to freshen my face and my skin always looks better after I use one.
Tatcha wants you to have the chance to experience its indulgent ritual for yourself, so the company is very generously offering one lucky Mommy Kat and Kids reader a Tatcha Sampler Set containing PURE Camellia One Step Cleansing Oil, POLISHED Gentle Rice Enzyme Powder, POLISHED Classic Rice Enzyme Powder, POLISHED Deep Rice Enzyme Powder, RADIANT Deep Brightening Serum, SUPPLE Moisture Rich Silk Cream and PETAL FRESH Original Japanese Beauty Papers, a $162 value!
