When discussing fashion and trends, it always seems as though we are discussing the next hot colors in clothing or the latest cuts in jackets or pants. But we sometimes forget that jewelry is the ultimate fashion accessory; it is no less trendsetting and evolutionary than clothing.
As usual, as the season changes so too do the trends in jewelry, although a beautiful, classic piece of jewelry is always in fashion no matter what the season. This summer there are a few dominant trends in jewelry. Large, natural, intense stones in bright colors spring to mind; floral and sea-inspired themes are also huge. The floral theme is an extension of the floral trend in clothing. When considering floral-themed jewelry, think pieces with petals, leaves or flower designs. For sea-themed jewelry, think scales, starfish, waves, mother of pearl or fish. Blue in any shade is absolutely huge this summer as are chandelier earrings.
A trend that is perfect for every jewelry box this summer is natural fancy color diamonds. For those of you unfamiliar with these extremely rare treats of nature, they are the colored version of the more commonly known and loved colorless diamonds. It is believed that for every 10,000 carats of colorless diamonds mined there is only one carat of fancy color diamonds.
Fancy color diamonds come in the following colors: red (very rare), green, blue (rare), orange, champagne, gray, black, purple (very rare), violet (very rare), white and chameleon. The two most popular colors of diamonds, though, are fancy yellow diamonds, also known as canaries, and pink diamonds. Although these are the primary colors of fancy color diamonds, most colors contain a second or even a third hue which means that the kaleidoscope of colors is represented in this type of diamond.
Prices vary greatly and although based on the four Cs of valuing colorless stones – cut, clarity, carat (weight) and color, the dominant “C” when valuing a fancy color diamond is, of course, color – the more intense the better. The parameters affecting the value of a fancy color diamond are much more complex than those affecting a colorless one so it is best to find a trustworthy and reputable dealer when looking to make a purchase.
Fancy color diamonds are both timelessly classic yet perpetually trendy; they are natural and intense, may be large, all the shades of blue are represented in their color spectrum and they may be used in any type or theme of jewelry for a stunning effect. You cannot beat fancy color diamonds as the ultimate addition to your summer wardrobe.

It just so happens that my new favorite color is peacock blue, which is just about the same color as the rare blue diamond! Coincidence? I think not! LOL! Pretty bling!
Oh my gosh, I would LOVE a blue diamond! But honestly, I can’t really imagine saying no to a plain old white one either!
