It’s one of the most exciting days of the year for both parents and kids but it’s also a day that can make kids feel a little insecure and turn parents into complete nervous wrecks. Yes, I’m talking about that monumental first day of school.
It’s only natural to worry about your child when they head out the door. It was even nicer than it had looked on the website; I liked the chain, which was the perfect length for a child, and the simple silver pendant itself, which was about the size of a dime and appropriate for a boy or a girl. I showed the pendant to Zackary and explained that it would remind him that his Guardian Angel was always with him to keep him safe. He tried on the chain and showed his dad, explaining that it was his “angel from God.”
What I love about this pendant most is its symbolism. It’s a way to remind a nervous child that even when he’s away from home, he’s not alone and a way for parents to relax a bit and trust that their child will be okay out in the big, wide world. Zackary decided to only wear his chain on special occasions so I told him that I would secure it on one of the inner pockets of his backpack so that his Guardian Angel would always be with him.
