Like most children, I used to love decorating my new school supplies with doodles, designs and drawings to make them stand out. It was a way to express a bit of my individuality and when I look back at my school supplies from those years, I can see how my style changed. In Grade Eight, I covered everything with colourful, realistic flowers. In Grade Nine I favoured cartoon sketches of kids in bell-bottoms. And in Grade Ten I went through an intense phase that inspired me to draw elaborate worlds of stick men on all my possessions.
Now my oldest son is starting Grade One and he has already shown some great drawing talent. I have a feeling he’ll be spending his teen years doodling away as well and thanks to some great new products from Sharpie®, kids will be able to express themselves like never before! The new Sharpie® Brush Tip permanent markers offer better control, vibrant colours and the ability to create both thin detailed lines and thick brushstrokes to make creating artistic looks even easier. I recently received a few packages of the new Sharpie® Brush Tip markers along with a cute flowerpot mug to decorate and I was so excited to create some art.
I did a pretty simple doodle on the mug: a fish, an octopus and some bubbles. But even just doing that simple drawing made me appreciate how easy it was to control the lines I made using the Sharpie® Brush Tip markers. By adjusting the angle I could go from tiny details to big, bold strokes to get just the look I wanted. I had so much fun with them that I spent time drawing a few pictures for my boys of their favourite cartoon characters and animals.
Sharpie® wants your child to be able to decorate all those new school supplies with his own signature look, so the company is very generously offering one lucky Mommy Kat and Kids reader a Sharpie® Brush Tip prize pack worth $50! To enter to win, just leave a blog comment about what you or your kids would personalize first with these markers if you won.
Adding that signature touch to new school supplies is a tradition that is just as popular today as it was when I was in school. It lets kids take something ordinary and make it into something unique and special and that’s something I’ll always support. If you have tweens or teens that love to personalize their school gear, check out the new Sharpie® Brush Tip permanent markers. Your kids will have a great time turning everyday gear into works of art with these vibrant, easy-to-use markers!
