Funky. Modern. Addictive. That’s the only way to describe the newest CD release from North Carolina’s favourite power pop band for kids, Big Bang Boom. Because I Said So! was a high-energy, totally rocking listening experience that my boys and I both found endlessly entertaining.
So what makes the CD so appealing? It starts with the great melodies, which combine rock, alternative and hip-hop for an appealing feel that adults will actually enjoy as much as kids. In fact, during the intro of I Can Sing, I subconsciously became convinced I was listening to one of my favourite Sublime CDs!
But while the melodies may have adult appeal, the music is all about the children. From the opening track, Green Light, which has an upbeat country-rock feel, to the hilarious title track Because I Said So!, the songs are full of kid-friendly content. My personal favourite song was Are We There Yet?; a melody to which any family that has ever been on a car trip will be able to relate.
Zackary especially just loved this CD and I think it would likely be a hit with most young school-aged kids. After all, how could any child not love songs about biking, underwear and playing punch buggy? And Big Bang Boom wants to give you a chance to enjoy this upbeat, family-friendly music for yourself, so the company is very generously offering one lucky Mommy Kat and Kids reader their own copy of Because I Said So!
I’ve listened to a lot of children’s music over the years and Big Bang Boom really is something special. The modern feel and humour-heavy kid content makes it stand out from the crowd and it’s no surprise to me that they recently won the prestigious John Lennon Songwriting Contest with one of their songs. If you want a CD that will have you grooving to the beat as your children laugh at the lyrics, look no further than Big Bang Boom Because I Said So!

I love that they are dads themselves and understand that too much ‘old school’ kids music is bad for one’s health. I also like that they put on Rock Star Summer Camp (although the link on their site doesn’t work). Cool looking dudes!
The Song I Didn’t Do It & It Wasn’t Me is fun. This could have been my daughter’s theme song!
I liked the videos at their website

I love that you can hear samples of the songs. They are truly great!
They write songs with a pop sensibility by cleverly mixing alternative, hip-hop, pop, country, and other genres to create music that parents AND children can relate to and enjoy!! Think of it as a “kid-appropriate frat party.”

I love the song I didn’t For It and It Wasn’t Me. This is my boys every day. They are 4 & 2and I hear those phrases probably 10x a day. They loved listening to the song on the website with me.
After 20 years of touring, Chuck, Steve and Eddie decided to expand their horizons and play for parents (like themselves) who want MORE from children’s music.
I liked that the guys in the band are all dads.

My daughter liked the song “I hate Bugs.”
I love that they are parents themselves so are writing music that parents will enjoy as well. It is also pretty neat that they help at the rock star summer camp in North Carolina
I like that they are more rock etc like with good beat/riffs and not cutesy like a lot of kids songs. But I also like that the lyrics aren’t too old or sexy for my girls to listen to like a lot of the popular music on the radio. I’m not quite ready for them to listen to mainstream radio.
I like the song snippets!
