My boys and I love Club House sauces and spices. It all started with the gravy. Whether we were eating it on mashed potatoes at Thanksgiving or using it on fries to make delicious homemade poutines, Club House gravy was a family favourite. Then I started trying some of the other Club House products including the pasta sauce mixes and the spice blends. It wasn’t long before I was addicted to Club House.
So when I learned about the brand new Club House Flavourful Recipe Mixes, blends of spices that can be used to create sumptuous main dishes in record time, I was thrilled. I recently received a fabulous package of Club House Flavourful Recipe Mixes and other Club House products for my cooking pleasure and I couldn’t wait to pick out a mix and see what kind of entrée I could create.
I happened to have ribs in the freezer and so I decided to use the Club House Hickory BBQ Ribs Flavourful Recipe Mix to make the delicious Hickory BBQ Ribs recipe I found at clubhouse.ca. Now I have to admit, I am pretty picky about my ribs. I generally only use two barbeque sauces on ribs and both are sensational, complex, homemade recipes that I had a feeling would be hard to top. But Club House had never let me down before, so I threw caution to the wind and gave it a try!
Generally I precook ribs on the stove, coat them with sauce and barbeque them. The precooking is what makes the meat so incredibly tender. The recipe on the Club House Flavourful Recipe Mix package and the clubhouse.ca website used a large oven roaster with water in the bottom to achieve the same tender, melt-in-your-mouth texture. I simply mixed the contents of the package with one cup of ketchup, placed the ribs in the roaster, coated the meat with the sauce and popped the roaster into the oven. Two hours later, the boys were dancing around me in anticipation as I pulled out the roaster full of tender ribs. The smell was incredible!
The barbeque sauce was sweet and spicy and we all devoured it. It was different enough from our usual sauces that we were able to enjoy it without comparing it to the other ribs I make and creating the entrée had been so much easier than my usual rib-making process! I’m so excited now to try some of the other Club House Flavourful Mixes; the Creamy Parmesan Chicken Penne especially seems like a recipe my family will adore.
