Ever since I was a child, Christmas meant having a real tree in the house. It was always such a monumental event, that day when the tree was finally carried inside and decorated. And the smell that filled the house after was the very essence of Christmas to me. As an adult, I carried on the tradition and I really didn’t think that anything could tempt me away from the joys of a real Christmas tree. (I conveniently disregarded the months of trying to remove pine needles from the carpet once Christmas had passed.)
Then I saw the gorgeous artificial trees in the Walmart Holiday Home Trends Look Book. Full, beautiful and decorated in different styles ranging from a sophisticated Victorian tree with white and gold decorations to a colourful traditional rustic tree that any child would love, they were stunning enough to convince me that maybe an artificial tree wouldn’t be so bad. So I was very excited when Walmart Canada sent me a gift card so that I could see for myself what its artificial trees were like.
Walmart Canada has trees for every price range with full-sized pre-lit trees starting at just $49, but I decided that if I was going to buy an artificial tree, I should get one that had all the features I wanted. I chose the 6’ Edgewood Pre-Lit Tree, which is available at Walmart Canada for $149. Then I headed home to set up the tree and see how it looked.
The assembly of this tree is an absolute dream. I have seen people assemble artificial trees before and it took most of them quite a long time. The Edgewood tree went from packed away to ready to decorate in about three minutes. I simply placed the base on the floor and snapped the three tree pieces together one by one. The branches were on hinges so with just the gentlest push, each branch spread out to leave the tree looking full and fabulous.
I loved how realistic the branches looked. If it wasn’t for the noticeably absent evergreen scent, I’m sure people would assume that this tree is real. And the 315 pre-strung LED lights on the tree were placed just right to give the tree a great festive appearance.
The lights were another one of the fabulous features on this tree. The wiring for the lights runs through the poles of the tree so there are no plugs to connect when snapping the pieces together. Just lock the three tree pieces into place, plug in the cord at the bottom and the entire tree will light up!
I have to admit, I was very impressed by how fast it was to set up this tree and start decorating. It was so nice to avoid all the hassle that comes along with having a real tree in the house and while I do miss the smell a little, I loved the quick and easy set-up and the great price of this tree so much that I think I’ll be sticking with it in the coming years too. And not having to remove evergreen needles from my carpet after Christmas is an added bonus!

Whether you’re looking for something small and simple or large and elaborate, Walmart Canada is sure to have a tree that will help you have your home looking perfectly festive for the holidays.

That’s a cool tree, in a very traditional green for the purists. For those on the daring side, some of the new trends this year are trees in reds, pinks, and purples!
I’ve seen those! But I think I’ll stick with green.
You need to live a little.
I’ve seen so many beautiful trees at Walmart recently! We have an aritficial one because of allergies unfortunately, but the artificial ones last for so long, and look just as real now..without bothering allergies
I also like the traditional green hehe.
Tee hee! Yeah, NOT a fan of the coloured tree!
This is a nice tree! Love how you decorated it! I bought mine few years ago from Walmart too
Thanks! I’m a big fan of kid-sourced decorations. Lol
Lovely decorations. Our first tree was from Walmart and it lasted many years.
That’s good to know, Randa! I never really thought about it, but if this one lasts for three years, I’ll actually be saving money compared to what I paid for a real tree every year!
I’ve always done an artificial tree all my years. Sadly, if I brought in a fancy pine tree I’d be stuffed up and very unattractive! Love the Wal-Mart trees. I really love the ones that already have the lights installed to them too!
Me too! That was actually my biggest motivator in moving to an artificial tree. With the lights already in place, the kids can get decorating all the quicker!
We got ours at Canadian Tire…however I kinda wish we got a real tree…It’s cost effective to get a fake one mind you…But I like our tree as well. Maybe I’ll get potpourri that smells of pine and christmas, LOL!
Lol, Erica! I was actually thinking about getting a Scentsy bar in the Christmas tree scent so that I could pretend!
I will admit that I insist on a real tree for home. However, our office building is full of artificial trees and at least a couple of them look to be at least 20 years old and need replacing! I may have to gently suggest they check out the trees at Walmart for next year….
Oh yes, there’s nothing worse than a ratty old office tree!
I LOVE the pre-lit trees, I actually have one on my front verandah (in red) and at our main entrance (traditional green with white lights). Oh the time it saves when decorating!! I like the slim design of your tree!
While I prefer traditional green, I must admit I ADORE your red tree, Jody! It really does add a punch to the decor! Totally agree, I am sold on pre-lit trees for all time now, I think!
love all the homemade decorations! I should have done more with the kids this year! when I was little we always had a real tree, it was hard to switch to artificial but so worth it for the ease and getting to keep your tree up longer!
YES! This is me exactly! I seriously was having such a hard time, but the very first time I set up this one…I got it. I didn’t even think about getting to keep the tree up longer! Bonus!
