My boys love seek and find books but while Zackary, at six years of age, is quite talented at finding tiny characters in a busy, jumbled picture, Benjamin, at three, often gets frustrated after a few minutes. Of course, he insists on searching anyways because if his big brother is doing something, then he wants to do it too!
I really wanted to find a way for both of my boys to enjoy seek and find books so I was thrilled when I was given a chance to review a Find Me If You Can book from Bammco. These innovative 30-page books take the traditional idea of seek and find and turn it into something completely unique by using a picture of your child’s face in the images! My son was so excited to receive his very own “Where’s Benjamin” book and he couldn’t wait to look through it.
Initially, I had expected the pages to contain a picture or photograph with Benjamin’s face somewhere amongst the background. But when I opened the book and saw that the pages contained hundreds of different children’s faces with Benjamin’s face among them, I couldn’t have been happier. The style was one that was perfect for younger children and just as I had suspected, Benjamin absolutely loved it.
The text, similarly, is suited for younger children with simple rhyming verses on each page. And the colourful backgrounds feature all the things kids love, from sports equipment to candy. Benjamin and Zackary both loved looking for Benjamin’s face among all the other children and I loved the way that the book added an extra challenge to the search by making sure that Benjamin’s image varied in size throughout the book. And the best part is that the books can be created with up to five different images so all your children can have their images included in the book!
If you know a little boy or girl that would love the fun of hunting for themselves in a seek and find book, you’re in luck! Bammco is very generously offering one lucky Mommy Kat and Kids reader their own Find Me If You Can book, a $30 value! To enter to win, just leave a blog comment about who you would give this book to if you won.
While I found that these books are best suited to preschool and young grade school children, the fun a child will have finding themselves in a book really makes this a great gift for children of all ages. Benjamin is so excited to have this very special seek and find book and I’ll often find him sitting down with it happily turning the pages and exclaiming, “Is me!” as he sees his picture. If you’re looking for a unique and entertaining gift for a special child, these books are a great choice. Check them out for yourself and let your children have fun hunting for their face throughout the pages!
