Get Crafty with the Lysol No-Touch Hand Soap Dispenser for a Chance to Win a Mini Tablet #LysolHandSoapContest

The Lysol No-Touch Hand Soap Dispenser is a product that’s made hand washing a lot more popular in our household. But the dispenser itself is certainly a product designed with adults in mind and not kids! Since children love using the dispenser so much, Lysol Canada wants to see how your child can turn the Lysol No-Touch Hand Soap Dispenser into a kid-tastic creation. And the company is featuring a fabulous Facebook competition to see just how creative your kids can get!

Easter Traditions are Even More Fun and Meaningful with Kinder Canada #KinderMom

Even though Saskatchewan is still icy cold and covered in snow, Easter is just a few weeks away! While the Easter Bunny may be hiding goodies inside the house instead of outside this year, I know that won’t diminish my boys’ enjoyment of the holiday!

We have a few special traditions each year for Easter. The first and most important is decorating Easter eggs. The boys and I all love hardboiled eggs so we’ll often decorate an entire dozen just for fun. And while the boys tend to stick to classic crayon-decorated eggs dipped in dye, I love experimenting with different decorating techniques. These Marbled Easter Eggs were easy to make and looked so pretty on Easter morning!

Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Make Fun and Easy Halloween Treats

Halloween is one of my very favourite holidays and each year I look forward to finding new fun activities for my boys and me to enjoy. This year, Kellogg’s decided to give us a little help with a fun Halloween-themed Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Treats kit! Containing Kellogg’s Rice Krispies, marshmallows, Halloween cookie cutters and decorating supplies, it was the perfect way to get in the mood for some spooky fun!

The boys were so excited by the assortment of candies we received for decorating!

I made the squares while Zackary was at school and then let both boys decorate a pumpkin and a bat with the icing and candies that the kit contained. Of course, they went a little overboard; Zackary’s shapes were hard to see underneath the candy he’d piled on top! But both boys had so much fun that I just let them enjoy themselves. After all, Halloween only comes once a year! [Read more...]

Carving a Watermelon Flower for the Kid-tastic Watermelon Blogger Challenge

Recently I was contacted by the National Watermelon Promotion Board and asked to participate in its first-ever kid-tastic Watermelon Blogger Challenge. The task was simple: create a watermelon recipe, a reproduction of one of the watermelon carvings on the watermelon.org site or an original watermelon carving for the chance to win a prize. I was so excited about submitting an entry, especially since I was able to enter more than once if I desired!

I knew right away that I would be choosing to do some carving and while I am going to be creating an original watermelon carving for the contest, I decided to also reproduce one of the carvings on the site: the Watermelon Flower. The National Watermelon Promotion Board very generously sent me a watermelon carving kit containing aprons, an ice bucket, a watermelon knife, a cutting board and a watermelon to help me get started. Enjoy a “Constructive” Summer with the Lowe’s Family Fun Projects Video Series Starring Mag Ruffman-Giveaway

We may only be in the early weeks of summer, but my boys are already getting a little stir-crazy. I’ve been making sure that we take lots of bike rides, enjoy plenty of outdoor play and do some fun crafts in the house every few days. But I’m always looking for other ways to keep my boys learning and occupied in warm weather.

So when I heard about the new Family Fun Projects video series from Lowe’s starring Mag Ruffman, I couldn’t wait to check it out. These DIY videos let kids construct fun items including a Beanbag Toss Game, a Chalkboard Table and a Princess Castle…with a little adult help and supervision, of course! Lowes sent me a $50 gift card so that I could try one of the projects for myself and so the boys and I decided to try making the adorable PVC Camp Stools. Since our annual camping trip is coming up in a few weeks, I knew these stools would come in handy! [Read more...]
