Telus Mobility is Proud to be a Part of the First Ever We Day Saskatchewan-Giveaway

we day logoOne of the things that always impresses and amazes me about the youth of today is their passion to create a better world right now. From the current trend of having birthday parties in which charitable donations are collected instead of presents to the many social activism clubs being launched in schools across North America, the desire of our young people to change the world is absolutely inspiring. And since 2007, Free the Children, a youth-driven charity founded by Craig and Marc Kielburger, has rewarded that concept and inspired the youth of North America to achieve even more at annual We Day events.

This year, Telus Mobility is a national sponsor of the event and for the first time ever, We Day is coming to Saskatchewan! What makes this event so special is that tickets to the event aren’t purchased. Instead, they are rewarded to youth activists and youth organizations in the cities in which the events are held. This year, on February 27, 2013, I am being given the chance to attend We Day in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and I can’t wait to gain learning and inspiration not just from the speakers and performers but from the youth of Saskatchewan themselves. The Huron Carole with Tom Jackson is Coming to Regina, Saskatchewan-Giveaway

The Huron Carole is recognized as Canadian’s first and only real Christmas carol. Incorporating a haunting melody of a sixteenth century French folk song and text written by Saint John de Brébeuf, a missionary to the Huron people, it has been a part of Canadian history since 1643.

It also happens to be my very favourite Christmas carol, and so I was thrilled when I heard that The Huron Carole starring Tom Jackson, a musical event supporting feeding Canada’s hungry, was coming to Regina and Saskatoon this year! The show will be in Saskatoon on December 7, 2012 at the Prairieland Park and in the Queen City on December 9, 2012 at the Connexus Arts Centre and with special guests Sarah Slean, Matt Dusk and Susan Aglukark, it is one of the must-see shows of the holidays!

Wordless Wednesday with Linky-Toronto Sights

cn tower

When I was in Toronto recently, I stayed at a hotel in the Rogers Centre right under the CN Tower. I walked under it dozens of times without getting a picture, so I was super happy that my best friend Paresh snapped this shot on my last day!

Wordless Wednesday with Linky-Beyond the Pavement

ontario fielding estates

I only visit Ontario on business trips to Toronto, which means all I’ve ever seen of the province is skyscrapers and cement. That’s why I loved having the chance to visit some of the vineyards around St. Catherine’s recently to see for myself that there is more to the province than pavement.

Escaping for the Day with Ford Canada and the 2013 Ford Escape #FordEscape

About a month ago, I had the chance to attend the Ford Escape for the Day event as part of the Escape’s nationwide tour, so my sister and I headed to the Sheraton Cavalier hotel in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to learn about the 2013 Ford Escape and spend the day enjoying some fun activities. The event started with a drive to the Western Development Museum, where we got the chance to drive through a closed course and see firsthand the way Ford is using the latest technology to make driving as safe as it can be.

Driving on the closed course was really something else. From swerving around pylons to a brake test to sudden obstacle avoidance, the way we were told to drive the cars through the course was nothing like everyday driving. “Put the pedal to the floor and don’t let up until it’s time to slam on the brakes,” I was told, and the fun-loving daredevil in me came out full force as I sped through the course with my slightly frightened sister beside me.
