It’s spring and along with warmer weather and sprouting plants, that also means rain! Our weather has finally transitioned from icy to sunny here in Saskatchewan but I know that we’re bound to have a few thunderstorms in the coming weeks. Personally, I don’t mind at all; I love the rain! And because I want my boys to love it too, I make sure that they have great rain gear ready for wet weather.
Zackary has been splashing through the rain for a few seasons now but this year, Benjamin is old enough that he can stomp in puddles right along with his big brother. So I was very excited when I once again got the chance to review the fun rain gear from Kidorable. This company specializes in outerwear that inspires a child’s imagination and Zackary had loved the Fireman coat and umbrella he had received from Kidorable a few years ago (you can read the review here). I couldn’t wait to see if Benjamin was as fond of Kidorable products as his brother.
Benjamin received the Dinosaur Rain Coat in a 4T and a Dinosaur Umbrella to review. He was so excited to see his new coat and umbrella; he had been guilty of sneaking away to play with Zackary’s umbrella in the past so it was wonderful for him to have one of his own.
As always, I was impressed by Kidorable’s attention to safety features. The umbrella’s top and ends featured round plastic balls so that there were no pointy pieces that could be dangerous for little ones. And the raincoat fastened with simple plastic snaps so that even younger kids could fasten their own coats.
The one thing to keep in mind about Kidorable’s rain gear is that the coats are not lined, so putting the coat on by itself over a t-shirt isn’t really the best idea. Instead I put the coat on over Benjamin’s light spring jacket or over a sweater as the weather dictates. While a lining would sometimes be nice, I think I actually prefer the versatility of the unlined coat since I can dress Benjamin to make it appropriate for any weather. Benjamin absolutely loved his dinosaur gear, and it was so sweet to see him proudly strutting around in his new coat carrying his very own umbrella. He had so much fun growling and roaring just like a real dinosaur!

I am a big believer in adding fun to a kid’s day in little ways whenever possible and I’m glad Kidorable supports that same philosophy. Yes, I grew up doing crazy stunts, racing down steep hills and never, ever thinking about putting on a helmet when I rode my bike. Back in the eighties, that was pretty much the norm. But we know much more now about how damaging even a minor head injury can be and so I always lead by example now by making sure that when I hop on my bike, I have a helmet on my head and so does everyone else in our family.

Because both of my boys love this sticky-sweet orange supplement so much, my husband and I save it exclusively for them, but we each did try a bit of the OmegaSmooth just to see how we liked it.
