Cloud B Canada Twilight Sea Turtle-Review and Giveaway

Since having children, I’ve really learned about the importance of a special nighttime routine when bedtime rolls around. It all started when Zackary was just one and insisted on staying up until past midnight and then waking up to start his day at four in the morning. My husband insisted that we start laying down with Zackary at a regular hour every night and remaining in bed until he fell asleep. After just three days, Zackary was falling asleep without a fuss and sleeping better through the night. The transformation was unbelievable.

As he got older, we added more elements to his bedtime routine and today he has a complete system that we follow every night. First he brushes his teeth with his baby brother. Then the two boys give Dad a “night-night nuggle.” They head upstairs with me and both pick out a bedtime book. I read them the books, turn off Zack’s light, blow him a kiss and leave the room with Benjamin.

Recently, we added another element to the bedtime routine and it is one that Zackary absolutely loves. The beautiful and soothing Twilight Sea Turtle from Cloud B Canada is a combination educational toy and nightlight from a company that understands the importance of a soothing nighttime environment better than anyone else. I was thrilled when I got the chance to review this charming bedtime friend for myself.

The Twilight Sea Turtle features five different endangered animals on its shell and a pattern of stars on its back. The turtle has three buttons to control the nighttime experience. The first button illuminates the pictures of endangered animals one by one when it is pressed. The second button illuminates the turtle’s shell with blue light, which then displays a pattern of blue stars on the walls and ceiling of a child’s room. The third button does the same thing, except that the light is green. Best of all, by pressing both the blue and green buttons, the shell and stars become a beautiful oceanic turquoise colour!

Zackary really liked the pictures on the shell of the turtle, but when I turned the light on for him for the first time one night right before leaving the room, “like” turned to “love.” He adored having the gentle light in his room and he especially liked that the stars shone out of the turtle’s shell. Every night after that, he would request that I turn on a certain colour before I left the room. I was so happy with how much he enjoyed his new companion!

The other nice thing about the Twilight Sea Turtle is that it can be enjoyed both during the day and at night. While Zackary really favours the shining stars at night, he loves looking at the Blue Whale, California Sea Otter, Knysna Seahorse, Leatherback Turtle and Vaquita Dolphin on the shell of the turtle during the day. He really has a fascination with nature and I love that this toy helps increase his interest in the world as well as providing him with a soothing nighttime environment.

I would never be able to remember to turn off the Twilight Sea Turtle after Zackary fell asleep, so I was very appreciative of the fact that the turtle features a timer that turns it off automatically after 45 minutes. Cloud B has always been great about details like that so that parents can leave children to enjoy their peaceful bedtime companions without worrying about drained batteries or wasted electricity.

Cloud B Mimicking Monkey-Review and Giveaway

For almost five years, I have been putting a child to bed every single night. These days, getting my two sons settled down and ready to sleep goes pretty smoothly but that definitely wasn’t always the case. My oldest son was four years old before I finally left him to fall asleep on his own instead of staying with him until he dozed off and there were nights that it would take hours before he eventually slept.

cloud b mimicking monkey I am incredibly proud of how well he has adjusted to falling asleep by himself and when I got the chance to review one of the fabulous items from Cloud B, a company that specializes in products that help babies and toddlers to fall asleep happy and comfortable, I decided it was the perfect chance to ensure that my oldest son was perfectly content when the lights went out.

I received the Cloud B Mimicking Monkey to review and I was thrilled by how adorable he was. The monkey is about 18 inches tall and so incredibly soft that I could see he would be an excellent bedtime companion. He also features a clever music player that plays three relaxing sounds. Best of all, a special recording button lets a child or adult record 15 seconds of speech, which is then incorporated into the relaxing sounds on the player!

The sound choices are the sounds of monkeys, a waterfall or a gentle lullaby. I put the lullaby on initially and as soon as I did, Benjamin fell in love. I hadn’t expected him to be so enraptured by the monkey, but he hugged the cuddly fellow to his chest and danced to the music so contentedly that he charmed everyone that saw him!

Benjamin dragged the monkey around for most of the day, but he eventually relinquished his new friend so that I could give him to Zackary for bedtime. After I get Benjamin to sleep, I always spend ten minutes cuddling Zackary, chatting and telling stories before I head downstairs. During Zackary’s first night with his Mimicking Monkey, I spent some time explaining how the monkey worked and showing him how he could record his own voice on the monkey and then hear it played back to him. “That’s why he’s called Mimicking Monkey,” I explained. “Because he says what you say!”

Zackary was delighted and when I left the room he was happily recording everything from simple sentences to bizarre noises and giggling as he heard the sounds repeated. The fun didn’t end at bedtime, though! For the next few days, Zackary always had the Mimicking Monkey by his side as he recorded any sound he could and then listened to the result.

After a few days, he had enjoyed the recording feature enough that he no longer felt the need to carry the monkey around the house and Mimicking Monkey moved back up to the bedroom. One night, after finishing a story, I picked up Mimicking Monkey and recorded a quick message. “Mommy loves Zackary very, very much!” Zackary was delighted and fell asleep with the Mimicking Monkey close by telling him that his mommy loved him. Now every night when I stand up to leave the room, he hands me his Mimicking Monkey and says, “Make him say something sweet, Mom!”
