Teach Children the Importance of Perseverance with the Never Give Up Bunny-Giveaway

In many ways, kids don’t get as many chances to fail as they used to. Sports are often played in a non-competitive setting, children are no longer held back at school and because instilling positive self-esteem has become a focus for so many parents, many children no longer learn about how to continue on regardless when they’d don’t succeed at a task.

But failure is a part of life and learning to keep moving forward despite a setback is one of the most important lessons we can give our children. That is the concept behind the Never Give Up Bunny and recently I received the Never Give Up Bunny Family Pack to review so I could see just how these adorable bunnies help children learn about perseverance and achieving goals.

Make Birthday Party Planning Easier with Birthday in a Box

My oldest son Zackary is only a month away from his seventh birthday and I can’t believe how the time has flown! I can still remember when he was a cuddly baby in my arms and now he’s reading, playing sports and having birthday parties with his friends! I have to admit, I sometimes go a little overboard with planning birthday parties for my boys. But this year I’ll actually be travelling during Zackary’s birthday, which means his party will take place after I get back and my preparation time will be rather limited.

Help Your Child Build Confidence for Life at Muskoka Woods Summer Camp #MuskokaWoods2013

I still remember that moment when my mom dropped me off at overnight camp for the very first time. I was an outgoing and adventurous child, but attending camp was going to be my first time sleeping away from my family with children I had never met and I couldn’t help feeling a little nervous and lonely as my mom drove away.

But before I knew it, I was completely captivated by all the fun activities at overnight camp. I made lots of new friends, had a great time eating in the large dining hall and learned some of the silliest songs I had ever heard sitting around the campfire at night. Since I was quite young, we didn’t participate in activities such as archery or canoeing. But that didn’t mean that we didn’t have lots of fun! Nature hikes, arts and crafts, swimming and sports filled my days.

Sid the Science Kid: The Movie on DVD Has Action and Education for Kids-Giveaway

Who’s every kid’s favourite insatiably curious little scientist? Sid the Science Kid, of course! Sid, like most young children, is always asking questions about the world around him. And in his search for the answers, he helps teach kids about the scientific process! Zackary discovered this hit PBS Kids show when he was about three years old and I have to admit, I was a bit of a fan myself! And now Sid is starring in his very own movie now available on DVD! Here’s a brief synopsis of Sid the Science Kid: The Movie:

sid science kid movie box artSid and his classmate Gabriela enter a contest and win the exclusive opportunity to visit a new modern science museum before it opens to the public. There the kids meet a quirky scientist, voiced by special guest star Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future), who has designed robot tour guides of the future! Then one of the robots goes haywire and the grand opening is in jeopardy! It is up to Sid and his friends to work as a team to find the rogue robot and save the day!

My boys were so excited to watch this movie featuring Sid and Gabriela. They especially loved the robot tour guides that were featured in the movie, since Zackary has lately had a fascination with robots that he has passed to his brother. The movie had a great engaging storyline and I loved that my boys were learning about lightning, dinosaurs and robots as the action progressed! [Read more...]

Spark Your Child’s Imagination with Goofy Grin Monsters Plush Toys-Giveaway

These days, so many of the toys that my boys have are based on characters from their favourite TV shows and video games. I want them to have toys that they like but often when I listen to them play, they are re-enacting scenarios they have seen rather than creating their own stories. My boys have fabulous imaginations; so even under those circumstances they tend to come up with some pretty fabulous twists. But I wanted to find some toys that let my boys use their imaginations more and external prompts less.

That’s why I loved the concept of Goofy Grin Monsters. These loveable monsters are brightly coloured, whimsically designed and feature big, irresistible grins. The monsters live in a fictional place called Goofy Grin Village and while each monster has a name and a brief biography, the characters are purposely left open to a child’s interpretation beyond that. Imagination can take off when a child plays with a Goofy Grin Monster! [Read more...]
