Stellar Performances, Special Effects and Leather Pants Make Stars on Ice a Hit

Figure skating is such a beautiful sport. The combination of athletic ability, breathtaking tricks and beautiful choreography captivates me every time and I love watching a really good show. Recently Jergens offered me the chance to check out the Saskatoon performance of Stars on Ice featuring some of Canada’s most popular and talented figure skaters including Patrick Chan, Ashley Wagner and the incredible Kurt Browning, my favourite figure skater ever since I watched him win the World Championships when I was just a child.

But as much as I would have loved to attend, the two-hour drive was a bit much to manage and I knew that my mother and sister would appreciate the experience even more since my sister used to be a figure skater herself. My mother, Sharlee and her good friend Hannah were thrilled to head to the Credit Union Centre in Saskatoon to check out the show and the girls loved it so much, they couldn’t stop talking about it! Do It with Class Young People’s Theatre Company Presents Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

This Thursday and Friday, the first musical featuring the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber and the lyrics of Tim Rice, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, is coming to Regina thanks to DIWC! Do It With Class Young People’s Theatre Company (DIWC) is Saskatchewan’s only pre-professional musical theatre and drama company for children and youth and this weekend they’re bringing the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber to life!

Harlem Shake in Small Town Saskatchewan

Living in a town of 1,800 people in the middle of the Saskatchewan prairies doesn’t necessarily make for the most exciting social scene. So what do folks in Lumsden do for fun? They go to the bar and create a Harlem Shake meme, of course!

I hear a lot of jokes about living in a small town in an overlooked province, but it’s things like this that make me proud to be Lumsden born and bred. Seriously, who does things like this?

The Golden Apple Theatre Presents God of Carnage in Regina, SK-Giveaway

Right now the highly acclaimed Golden Apple Theatre in Regina, SK is delighting audiences with the performance of the adult comedy God of Carnage and they want to send you to the show!

God of Carnage, which had a 15-month run on Broadway, received a Tony Award in 2009. Edgy, funny, and provocative, God of Carnage looks at adult relationships in conflict situation, and examines how conflict can peel away the veneer of civility and reveal our not so civilized private emotions below the surface. God of Carnage runs from from January 30 to February 10th.

Every Labour Day, my hometown drops plastic ducks into the river and races them one kilometre, with the fastest duck awarding its winner $20,000. The coolest part? This year the winner was a five-year-old girl! Bet she had a great first day of Kindergarten!

Do It With Class Young People’s Theatre Inc. present: Seussical, The Musical

On Tuesday April 3 and Wednesday April 4, the must-see show to catch is Seussical, the Musical performed by the Do It With Class Young People’s Theatre Inc. at the Conexus Arts Centre. Do It With Class is Regina’s only production company made up entirely of youth. The organization lets talented young performers between the ages of 10 and 19 develop their skills in a range of performing arts and their shows are said to be phenomenal. My family will be getting the chance to review the performance on Tuesday and needless to say, I am very excited to check out the show!
