I’ve recently learned a bit about the different types of olive oil and since I do love a good deal, I admit that I’ve tended to buy the cheapest varieties when shopping for olive oil in the past. But did you know that sometimes extra virgin olive oil actually…isn’t? A recent study by UC-Davis of the contents of twenty verities of extra virgin olive oil found that approximately two-thirds of the olive oil was mislabelled as extra virgin. And a study by the Canadian Food Council shows that one of every five olive oil brands on Canadian shelves isn’t pure olive oil at all.
