A few months ago I wrote about the launch of Walmart Canada’s first annual Mom of the Year award. This fabulous new program honours those moms that go above and beyond both for their children and for their community. After almost 17,000 nominations, the eight finalists have been chosen and soon one very special mom will receive $100,000 for her chosen charity and the honour of being the very first Mom of the Year!
I headed over to the Mom of the Year website to read through the finalists’ posts and I have to say, I do not envy the judges that have to choose just one of these amazing women to receive the title of Mom of the Year. From Katie Schulz, a dedicated mother and champion at raising awareness and funds for Cystic Fibrosis Canada to Olivine Bernatchez, a woman whose passion for volunteering earned her a medal from the Lieutenant Governor and who continues to give her time to others at 84 years of age, these women truly do embody selflessness, passion and dedication to the causes that are important to them.
