Perry the Platypus Goes Missing in the Epic Disney XD Adventure Where’s Perry?

The weekend is here and it’s time to relax, unwind and enjoy a little family time. And for those with Phineas and Ferb fans in the house, it’s also time to check out Part 1 of the new Phineas and Ferb: Where’s Perry? two-part special debuting on July 28 at 11:30 a.m. ET on Disney XD!

My household has a couple of obsessive Phineas and Ferb fans: Zackary and…well…his mother. So when I got the chance to check out a screener of Phineas and Ferb: Where’s Perry? Part 1, I was thrilled. My son and I sat down to watch the first half of the episode together.

Adventure is Just Around The Corner with Phineas and Ferb: The Perry Files on DVD+Digital Copy

Now that Zackary is a little older, he has become a fan of some shows that I actually enjoy too. It’s so nice to say goodbye to repetitive preschool cartoons and watch something that I find genuinely funny and our favourite show to watch together as a family is Phineas and Ferb. So when I got the chance to review the newest DVD release of the show, Phineas and Ferb: The Perry Files, I couldn’t wait to enjoy a little family time. Here’s a brief synopsis:

Phineas and Ferb the Perry Files box artJoin Perry the Platypus – a.k.a. Agent P. – on his most exciting adventures as he thwarts his nemesis, Dr. Doofenshmirtz, at every turn. With groovy gadgets, mad skills and his trademark brown fedora, this semi-aquatic, egg-layin’ mammal of action is unstoppable! Experience the hilarious havoc as he defends the Tristate Area against Doof’s “inators,” battles rogue agent “Dennis the Bunny,” and much more. When it comes to secret agents, Perry’s not only the real deal, he’s real teal!

This fun-filled video contains fourteen different episodes featuring the unstoppable Agent P. My personal favourite was Escape from Phineas Tower because while there is a great story about Agent P.’s adventures in the episode, watching Phineas and Ferb escape from their bad-tempered tower was even more enjoyable. But all the episodes featured the appealing combination of spy antics, zany inventions and, of course, busting attempts from the ever-determined Candace that my family has come to love. Get Ready for Fun with Phineas and Ferb: The Perry Files on DVD + Digital Copy-Giveaway

Last year my boys and I discovered Phineas and Ferb for the first time when we reviewed Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension. Zackary was just reaching the age at which he was starting to transition from simple preschool entertainment to the more complex humour of school-age cartoons. Phineas and Ferb was his first real experience with that older humour and he absolutely loved it. And I have to admit, I found the show pretty hysterical too!

I had never seen the television show before (Zackary is just getting to the age where shows like this are entertaining for him) so I was curious to see if the movie would be able to hold its own with someone that had no previous experience with the show. I wasn’t disappointed. Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension was hilarious!

My husband and son sat down to watch the movie with me and I was glad to see that the humour in the movie was a mix of kid-friendly jokes and subtler, more adult humour that I could enjoy. And while I was able to follow and enjoy every moment of the movie, I could also tell that a regular viewer of the show would be able to enjoy it even more.

One of the biggest highlights of the show for me was the original music. There are numerous songs throughout the movie and not only were they all great tunes, they were a big part of the comedy in the movie too! From the opening song Everything’s Better with Perry, where the catchy lyrics mention such exciting events as sitting in a chair and breathing in and out being better with a platypus to the fabulous rock hit Robot Riot that insults a race of attacking robots in song by referring to their mothers as washing machines, the songs weren’t just fun, they were really, really funny!

As much as my husband and I enjoyed this movie, Zackary was the one that loved it the most. He watched it three times in a row that first day and then insisted on watching it at least once a day for the next week! After the first few days, we took the movie downstairs to our basement playroom and insisted that Zackary watch it there. It’s a great movie, but we did decide we needed a break from it after four solid days!

The Ultimate Fan Pack contains some fun bonus features including eight deleted scenes, a music video, an exclusive song, a sing-along “Perry-oke” feature, and a bonus episode! There’s even a build-your-own Platypult Kit included with the set! This DVD set is the perfect gift for any child that enjoys the television series and is sure to be lots of fun for a new viewer as well. And with minimal violence and no excessively mature or frightening themes, it’s the perfect choice for family movie night too! So check out Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension and see what kinds of crazy adventures Phineas and Ferb enjoy on their most extreme “best day ever!”
