200 Best Ice Pop Recipes is Packed with Ideas for Summer Refreshment

200 best ice popsWith the temperature finally warming, my boys and I are in the mood to enjoy all the pleasures of summer. Recently I received the new cookbook 200 Best Ice Pop Recipes from Robert Rose Inc. and whipping up one of the recipes promised to be the perfect way to enjoy the nice weather.

The recipes in this book range from the simple to the exotic and the best part is the recipes contain much healthier ingredients than any ice pop I could find in the store. I’m looking forward to trying some of the fancier recipes over the summer but since the boys were eager for a treat, I decided to whip up the incredibly simple Grape Lemonade Ice Pops first. With just three ingredients, water, lemon juice and grape jam, they were such an easy snack to make! [Read more...]

Celebrate Warmer Days with this Easy Spring Flower Cupcake Recipe #LMDConnector

One of the things I love about spring is that time after the snow has melted and there is green grass and new little flowers everywhere. Here in Saskatchewan, that’s not something we get to enjoy in March too often. And this year has been especially miserable with the snow still taller than me out in the yard and temperatures that have only just started to reach the melting point in the last day or two.

I may not be able to enjoy green grass and sweet smelling flowers for another month or two, but spring is here and I want to celebrate! So I decided to create some fun little cupcakes for the family that captured the things I most love about spring. Taking my inspiration from the recipe for Spring Flower Brownies on the Life Made Delicious website, I treated my boys to Easy Spring Flower Cupcakes!

Enjoy the Flavour of Hunt’s Tomatoes with David Rocco’s Tomato and Lentil Soup Recipe

I absolutely love cooking with Hunt’s canned tomatoes. They’re inexpensive, don’t spoil and can be used to create a huge variety of delicious recipes. From soups to sauces to side dishes, the possibilities are endless. And every time I cook with Hunt’s canned tomatoes, I’m adding Vitamin C, fibre and potassium to my meal too!

There’s a reason Hunt’s canned tomatoes taste so good and it all starts with freshness. Hunt’s is passionate about picking tomatoes at the peak of ripeness to ensure that the true tomato flavour comes out in every dish. That delicious flavour is one that lends itself to all kinds of great meals and so when I got the chance to try out a tasty soup recipe created by celebrity chef and Tommalier (tomato expert) David Rocco, I couldn’t wait.

Make Tasty and Tempting Meals with Canadian Beef Pot Roast #LoveCDNBeef

I love beef but there are so many different cuts that I have trouble knowing the difference between them sometimes. So when I was recently chosen as a pot roast blogger, I was pretty excited to learn more about what exactly made a cut of beef a pot roast, especially since it would mean cooking one up to enjoy!

pot roastBeef roasts can be either pot roasts, rotisserie roasts or oven roasts and the difference, as I learned on the Canadian Beef blog, should be listed on the label when purchasing. Oven roasts are generally more tender cuts of meat that are cooked using dry heat, while pot roasts are tougher cuts cooked using moist heat. I love pot roasts because slow cooking in a pot or slow cooker yields a cut of meat that is bursting with flavour and incredibly tender. To make the meal quick and easy, I decided to make a blade roast using PC Pot Roast Sauce and pop it in my slow cooker instead of a pot on the stove. [Read more...]

The Sobeys Better Food Lovers Holiday Cookie Exchange

Recently I was chosen to join eleven other bloggers as part of Sobeys’ incredibly popular Better Food Lovers Blog. I was honoured to be asked to be a part of this fabulous group of women with a love for good food and the honour was even sweeter when I learned my very first task as a Better Food Lovers blogger would be to participate in a cookie exchange with one of my fellow bloggers!

I was given the task of exchanging cookies with the fabulous Tammi from My Organized Chaos. Tammi has a nut-free household and as most of the recipes we were given to choose from contained nuts, I decided to keep things very simple and use the Classic Cookie Dough.

After a long day of school, work and extra-curricular activities, I usually find myself planning supper at the last minute. And that means that I eventually fall into a fairly regular routine of cooking the same few quick and easy supper dishes week after week.

I received a themed travel pack from VH Sauces containing a cute travel diary, some useful and fun travel accessories, a gorgeous Lonely Planet’s 1000 Ultimate Experiences book and VH Sauces to help me add excitement to my family’s dinner.
