Snacking is a Blast with Twistos Snack Bites and New Twistos Crackers-Giveaway

Last year my family had the chance to review the brand new Twistos Snack Bites. They were crispy and light little morsels of deliciousness that I absolutely loved. And with flavours like Asiago, Bruschetta and Parmesan & Garlic, I couldn’t help but want to hide the bags away for myself! Unfortunately, the boys loved the Twistos just as much as I did, so I reluctantly shared my new favourite snack!

I received a review package packed with Twistos Snack Bites and Twistos Crackers and the boys and I enjoyed snacking heaven for days afterwards.

As a fan of Twistos Snack Bites already, I just had to test out the new flavour before I did anything else. Twistos Balsamic Vinegar & Olive Oil is hands-down my new favourite flavour. I love the rich, tangy, slightly sweet taste of balsamic vinegar and it pairs with the light crispiness of the snack bites wonderfully. I still do enjoy the original flavours, but the new variety of Twistos has won top honours in my heart. [Read more...]

Way Better Snacks Sprouted Chips Provide Whole Grain, Fibre and Nutrients-Giveaway

For the most part, I eat pretty healthy. I cook meals at home, favour whole grains and love simple, natural food like real butter and homegrown vegetables. But I still like to enjoy a tasty snack every now and again and tortilla chips are one of my all-time favourite indulgences. They may not be the healthiest snack, but they’re just so delicious!

way better snacks multi-grainNow, Way Better Snacks has taken tortilla chips to a new, healthier level with its line of sprouted chips in six delicious varieties: Simply Sweeet Potato, Simply Sunny Multi-Grain, Simply So Sweet Chili, Simply Unbeatable Blues, Simply Beyond Black Bean and No Salt Naked Blues. Recently I received one bag of each of the six flavours of Way Better Snack chips and I could hardly decide which one I wanted to try first.

The first thing I noticed about the chips was the ingredient list. With simple, wholesome ingredients including stone-ground corn, flax seed, brown rice and sea salt, I loved the fact that there was no ingredient in these chips I didn’t recognize. But while natural ingredients are something I love, it is the sprouting process that really makes Way Better Snacks chips so special. [Read more...]

Try New Tasty Cereals and Sensibly Delicious Snacks from Kellogg’s

Some people may think the best thing about being a Kellogger blogger is adorable Kellogg’s Corn Flakes bowls and too-cute vintage Tony the Tiger t-shirts and I have to admit, those little perks are pretty sweet. But for me, the very best thing about being a part of the Kelloggers network is getting to test out all the newest cereals and snacks from Kellogg’s Canada as they’re released. About a month ago, I received a box full of new products to dig into and the boys and I were only too happy to do a little testing.

The first items Zackary and Benjamin reached for were the Kellogg’s Special K Crisps. We’ve had these snack bars containing only 100 calories before but the new Chocolate and Cinnamon Brown Sugar flavours promised to be a hit with the whole family. While the Chocolate Crisps were quite good, it was the Cinnamon Brown Sugar Crisps that I really loved. We enjoyed the bars as an afternoon snack over the next few days.

To Avocado, With Love! Two Tasty Recipes that Will Win Your Heart

I’m a late adopter of the avocado, but now that I have welcomed it into my life, I can’t get enough! What makes the avocado rank so high in my books? It’s tasty, good for you, makes you feel full and it’s an amazing portable baby and toddler food.

avocadosThere are so many health benefits to eating avocados. I’m not a nutritionist or scientist, so you can read this article if you’d like a more in-depth description of what this amazing fruit can do for you but here are the basics. Avocados are full of fibre which helps to keep your “plumbing” running smoothly and keep you feeling full longer. They are also a source of lutein, a carotenoid, which is good for your eyes. I’m sure you’ve heard that taking a Folic Acid (or folate) supplement is a must when you’re pregnant or trying to conceive. Well move over horse pills, avocado has you covered by containing about a quarter of your recommended daily intake of folate. But wait a minute, aren’t avocados high in fat? Yes, they are, but it is good fat – the monounsaturated kind. This kind of fat helps to lower your LDL cholesterol levels (the bad cholesterol) and increase your HDL levels (the good cholesterol).
