Enjoy Comfy Feet in Warm or Cold Weather with Appalachian Outdoors Smartwool PhD Socks

I love clothing and I’m especially a bit of a sock fanatic. Some of my socks are extra comfortable. Some have fun, crazy patterns. But I have never had a pair of socks that were as amazing as my new Smartwool PhD Outdoor Light Crew socks from Appalachian Outdoors. I received a pair of these socks to review and I couldn’t believe how comfortable they were when I put them on.

smartwool phd outdoor light crew socksThe socks are made of merino wool, which is a superior fabric for clothing because it keeps you warm and dry in the winter and cool and dry in the summer. Wool is incredibly good at regulating body temperature and that meant that even after a busy day on my feet, my socks were still dry and my feet were comfortable. These socks would be wonderful for hiking, biking or any outdoor activity.

When the weather warmed up, I expected that the socks would be too hot. I was surprised to find that I was just as comfortable wearing them on a warm day as I had been when the weather was cold. Even though I had heard wool was appropriate for both warm and cool weather, I really didn’t fully believe it until I had tried these socks for myself. And Appalachian Outdoors even offers Smartwool products made of merino wool that are specially made to be appropriate for warm or cold weather! The cold weather garments are made of the sheep’s winter wool and the warm weather garments are made of the summer wool.

I haven’t owned a piece of clothing made with merino wool before but now that I have one I understand why it’s so popular. And because feet are often the hardest part of the body to keep dry and comfortable, having socks made from merino wool is an especially good choice! Check out the Smartwool PhD Outdoor Light Crew socks from Appalachian Outdoors for yourself and enjoy comfortable feet all year long!

EZ Sox Training Socks-Review and Giveaway

Holiday Gift for Toddlers and Preschoolers

At four years old, Zackary is growing up to be a very independent child. He has probably been a little more pampered than some children because for the first three years of his life he was an only child and I was a stay-at-home mom. Getting him dressed, helping him eat and just generally taking care of him was my job, and I took it very seriously.

EZ Sox penguin socksToday, Zackary has pretty much mastered self-sufficiency. He can usually get himself dressed, though putting on a shirt is a hit-and-miss experience. He can grab himself a snack out of the fridge and put on his coat and boots to go outside. But the one thing he has never been able to do by himself is put on his socks.

Part of the problem is that he just doesn’t really like socks. (A trait he inherited from his mother, actually.) But he also finds that socks can be quite hard to put on, and I tend to agree. Often, they are too tight and pulling them over his feet is hard. Other times, the socks end up upside down since there’s no easily discernible way for him to tell if the sock is the right way up. Even if he manages to get a sock over his foot and pulled up, it is usually twisted and uncomfortable and I have no choice but to take the sock off and put it back on myself.

When I heard about EZ Sox, I thought they sounded like a dream come true. These socks are especially designed to help toddlers and preschoolers easily and successfully put on their own socks. I was lucky enough to be able to review a pair of EZ Sox for myself and I couldn’t wait to get started.

When the socks arrived, I loved at the cheerful bear pattern on the top of the sock’s foot. EZ Sox feature different animal faces on top of the socks, but the design isn’t just there for decoration. Thanks to the friendly face smiling up at Zackary, it was easy for him to know if the sock was right side up or upside down.

The socks also feature a seamless design to ensure a high level of comfort for finicky children. With just those two simple features, I had already been impressed with the socks, but the biggest innovation was yet to come.

What makes EZ Sox so special is that they have a strong fabric loop on each side of the sock that lets children get a firm and secure grip on their socks to easily pull them on without assistance. I explained to Zackary why the loops were on the socks and then let him try them out. With his very first attempt, he pulled the socks on all by himself!

EZ Sox collectionThe next time Zackary put on his EZ Sox, he put one on upside down. I reminded him that the bear on the sock had to be looking at him for the sock to go on correctly, and he quickly pulled the sock off and put it on again the right way without me needing to assist him. Every time Zackary has used his EZ Sox he has done so successfully and without any help from me. I am thrilled by the difference those four sturdy little loops have made!

A pair of socks is a trademark stocking stuffer during the Christmas season, but no socks will be as useful for young children and for parents as a pair of EZ Sox. These socks would make a great stocking stuffer for any young child and are sure to be hugely appreciated by parents too. For socks that ensure busy parents have one less task to perform, check out EZ Sox today!
