Teach Children the Importance of Perseverance with the Never Give Up Bunny-Giveaway

In many ways, kids don’t get as many chances to fail as they used to. Sports are often played in a non-competitive setting, children are no longer held back at school and because instilling positive self-esteem has become a focus for so many parents, many children no longer learn about how to continue on regardless when they’d don’t succeed at a task.

But failure is a part of life and learning to keep moving forward despite a setback is one of the most important lessons we can give our children. That is the concept behind the Never Give Up Bunny and recently I received the Never Give Up Bunny Family Pack to review so I could see just how these adorable bunnies help children learn about perseverance and achieving goals.

Fisher-Price Favourites are Toys Parents and Children Will Both Love #FPFavourites

fisher-price favourites logoTo me, one of the clearest signs of a great company is that it offers products that have been used and loved for generations. My very first toy, bought for me by my mother a month before I was even born, was a Fisher-Price Happy Apple and that toy was passed down through every other child in our family and then on to my oldest son. A toy like that is impressive not just because of its durability, but even more so because it has appeal that has proven itself to be timeless.

Recently, Fisher-Price has released a list of twelve Fisher-Price Favourites, gear and toys that have withstood the test of time with proven universal appeal, and as soon as I looked through the list, I could see why the items had been chosen. Take the Discover ‘n Grow Jumparoo, for instance. My first experience with this activity-filled bouncing chair was when my oldest son was less than a year old. I comment often on the high energy levels of my boys and that was true even when they were infants. Zackary absolutely adored his Jumparoo and would bounce in it so energetically that sometimes I expected to see it leave the ground! In fact, he loved it so much that I sometimes let him eat his meals in it to keep him happy.

Spark Your Child’s Imagination with Goofy Grin Monsters Plush Toys-Giveaway

These days, so many of the toys that my boys have are based on characters from their favourite TV shows and video games. I want them to have toys that they like but often when I listen to them play, they are re-enacting scenarios they have seen rather than creating their own stories. My boys have fabulous imaginations; so even under those circumstances they tend to come up with some pretty fabulous twists. But I wanted to find some toys that let my boys use their imaginations more and external prompts less.

That’s why I loved the concept of Goofy Grin Monsters. These loveable monsters are brightly coloured, whimsically designed and feature big, irresistible grins. The monsters live in a fictional place called Goofy Grin Village and while each monster has a name and a brief biography, the characters are purposely left open to a child’s interpretation beyond that. Imagination can take off when a child plays with a Goofy Grin Monster! [Read more...]

Snuggle Bugz Makes Bathtime Fun with Bath Toys from Skip Hop-Giveaway

My boys have always loved bathtime but they have a bad habit of dragging their favourite toys into the tub with them. Zackary’s Hot Wheels always suffer the worst; he just loves racing them around the edge of the tub and the fact that the water is going to eventually cause the little metal pieces on the car to rust isn’t one of his concerns. Clearly my boys needed proper bath toys and Snuggle Bugz was kind enough to come to our rescue!

Snuggle Bugz
is a Canadian-based online boutique that features the very best and newest products for babies and toddlers. The store offers top brands including Britax, Apple Cheeks and Boon. I was given a free purchase code to buy an assortment of Skip Hop bath toys to review and the boys were so excited to try them out. The purchasing process was quick and easy, and I loved how I could shop by category or by brand and how I could organize results by price when browsing my purchases.

Little Girls Love the Fisher-Price Dora and Baby Boots Stroller Playset-Giveaway

Dora is probably one of the best-know preschool characters of all time and while girls and boys both love following along with Dora’s adventures, she is definitely an especial favourite of most girls. My nieces are no exception and so when I got the chance to review the brand new Fisher-Price Dora and Baby Boots Stroller Playset, I knew it would make the perfect gift for one of them.

dora and baby boots stroller playsetAnna, the oldest of my sister’s two children, is in Kindergarten and starting to outgrow her once fervent love of Dora the Explorer. But Izzy, the youngest sibling, is just under three years old and absolutely adores Dora. I decided to give the set to her and she was so excited to have her very own Dora to play with!

What she especially loved about this set was that it included Boots as well as Dora. The loveable monkey is a favourite of hers and she had a great time putting Boots into the little stroller and pushing him around. She also loved using the characters to act out her favourite episodes of the show or create her own adventures for Dora and Boots. [Read more...]

Let Your Children Build Some Fun Christmas Morning with Meccano

If you have a child that loves to build, let them create something amazing with the construction toy that’s been a favourite of children since 1901, Meccano! Over the years, Meccano has changed a lot and this year the company has some great choices for the holiday season. I recently received a few of them to check out for myself and I couldn’t wait to see what the updated Meccano building sets were like.

meccano sonicWhen I saw the Meccano Sonic the Hedgehog sets, I knew at once that my oldest son would love them. Not only has he recently developed a passion for construction, he also adores Sonic the Hedgehog! I liked that the sets were available in different styles for various fun experiences.

I received both a 15 and a 35-piece set. The 15-piece Sonic & Speed Star set contained Sonic in his Speed Star racer featuring pull-back action and the Sonic & Green Hill Ramp 35-piece set contained a fun stunt track in addition to another Sonic car so that both of my boys could have a car to race down the stunt track! With a suggested age of five years and up, it was the perfect skill level for my boys. [Read more...]

Treasuring Memorable Holiday Moments with Mattel

The holidays are perfect for making memories that will last a lifetime and for me, the most treasured memories are the ones I’ve made with my boys each Christmas. While I enjoyed my own childhood holiday adventures, those days just can’t compare to the joy of seeing my boys experience the magic of the holiday season.

While a baby’s first Christmas is always a special experience, it’s even more memorable when a child reaches that precious toddler stage. Once my boys were walking and talking, the holidays carried new meaning for the entire family. Personally, my most memorable holiday milestone was the Christmas when my youngest son Benjamin was 15-months-old.
