Disney Winnie the Pooh Blu-Ray/DVD Combo Pack-Review and Giveaway

Since A. A. Milne first published his charming children’s story in 1926, there has been very little decrease in the popularity of that “silly old bear” Winnie the Pooh. I watched the Disney adventures of Winnie when I was a child so I was very excited when I saw that my children and I would be able to sit down together and watch a brand new Winnie the Pooh movie from Disney. Here’s a brief synopsis:

winnie the pooh box artWhen sad, old Eeyore loses his tail, Owl sends the whole gang – Pooh, Tigger, Rabbit, Piglet, Kanga, and Roo – on a wild journey to help Eeyore and save Christopher Robin from the mysterious Backson. In the end, it turns out to be a very busy day for a bear who simply set out to find some ”hunny.” Inspired by five stories from A.A. Milne’s books and created in Disney’s legendary hand-drawn style, this all-new classic introduces one of the world’s most cherished characters to a whole new generation. Narrated by John Cleese and bursting with brand-new songs performed by Zooey Deschanel, this wonderfully whimsical film is a must-own for every family’s movie collection!

The movie features lots of classic elements that are sure to bring back memories for adults. I loved the fact that the movie kept the original theme song; I actually sing the song to my sons sometimes when we are out walking so they were very excited to hear it at the beginning of the movie! They were immediately caught up in the story of Pooh and his friends, and looking at my sons as they watched the movie with rapt attention was so touching; it was like watching myself so many years ago.

The plotline was beautifully classic and had all the simple charm that makes Winnie the Pooh so timelessly enjoyable. Zackary and Benjamin spent plenty of time both giggling at the antics of Pooh and his friends and bouncing along to the great music in the movie. What I loved most was the fact that the movie’s plot was based on five of the original stories by A. A. Milne; like so many children I grew up with these stories and it was wonderful to see them brought to life by Disney’s beloved characters.

My boys and I all enjoyed Winnie the Pooh; it is a traditional hand-drawn style of movie and provides powerful proof that you don’t always need a big, elaborate spectacle in order to create an engaging story. The family-friendly plotline of the movie is perfect for all ages and I fell in love with Winnie the Pooh all over again as I saw how much my boys loved the movie. This is the perfect movie for toddlers right up to adults and with no violence, no scary scenes and plenty of emphasis on friendship and helping others, it’s a safe choice for even the most sensitive children. So pick up Winnie the Pooh today and enjoy the magic of introducing your children to everyone’s favourite bear!
