There’s no question that raising children is a messy business. Benjamin has been eating solids for a few months now, and just the simple acts of feeding and changing him can be unbelievably dirty jobs. When I add to that the inevitable griminess created by an outdoorsy preschooler and the everyday mess that comes along with caring for a family of four, I find that some days just keeping everyone passable can be exhausting.
Needless to say, anything that can make staying clean a little bit easier is a welcome find in my household. The brand new Lysol No-Touch Hand Soap System promised to do just that. This amazing new system uses a built-in sensor to automatically dispense soap directly into the hand quickly, easily and cleanly. I was delighted when I was given a chance to test the new system for myself.
The Lysol No-Touch Hand Soap System arrived gorgeously packaged in a brown wicker basket that also contained a small hand towel and batteries for the dispenser. The unit uses four AA batteries that I inserted into the battery compartment as directed. I then peeled the seal off the bottle of hand soap and inserted it into the top of the dispenser. Finally, I switched the unit on and placed it on my counter.
The instructions stated that when I first used the system, I would have to move my hand under the dispenser several times before the soap dispensed. Each time I placed my hand under the nozzle, I heard the motor running and knew that the soap was working through the system. On my fourth attempt, the soap dispensed perfectly into my hand.
I loved the refreshing scent of the Hydrating Cucumber Splash hand soap that came with the dispenser, and I also liked the amount of soap that the dispenser provided. It was the perfect amount to clean the dirtiest hands, but was never so much that I felt wasteful. I was pleased by how quick and easy using the dispenser was. But it was only after I had used the Lysol No-Touch Hand Soap System in my house for a few weeks that I realized just how much this product was needed.
Initially, I had the Lysol No-Touch Hand Soap System set up in the bathroom, but I quickly realized that the sink we used to wash our hands after the biggest messes was invariably the kitchen sink. I moved the dispenser to the kitchen and I am so happy that I did.
It never occurred to me before, but after I’ve been handling raw meat when I prepare supper, I push the kitchen tap up with my forearm to turn it on so that I don’t get raw meat juice on the sink. Before receiving the Lysol No-Touch Hand Soap System, I would rinse off one hand as best I could, clumsily open the dish soap with my semi-clean hand and squeeze some into my other hand so that I could wash up. Thanks to the Lysol No-Touch Hand Soap System, those days of half-washing and awkward fumbling are over. Now, as soon as I have the water running I can have my hands soaped up and rinsed clean without ever risking contaminating anything else in the kitchen.
Washing my hands after changing a messy diaper is just as easy, and when I dirty my hands wiping up something sticky like honey or chocolate syrup, I don’t have to spread the stickiness anywhere else trying to wash up properly.
My husband also loves the Lysol No-Touch Hand Soap System. He is always tuning up motors, maintaining the car and repairing electronics. I can’t count the times that he has come into the house with his hands covered in oil, gasoline or grease and then completely sullied my dish soap bottle in the process of cleaning himself up. I don’t enjoy poisonous products, and looking at the oily bottle after my husband was finished with it always made me feel so frustrated.
Now, when my husband is done working, he is clean again in a flash without getting dangerous liquid on anything. Just a single squirt of hand soap from the Lysol No-Touch Hand Soap System cuts through the greasiest mess and gets his hands spotless without getting anything else dirty.
I’m not a germaphobe by any stretch of the imagination. As far as basic, everyday hand washing goes, I don’t worry at all about the fact that somebody else has touched the dispenser pump before me. But what I didn’t realize until I received this system was how often I have to wash something truly disgusting off of my hands. Just a few days ago I rejoiced over the Lysol No-Touch Hand Soap System after filleting a large fresh salmon for supper. My hands reeked of fish and were caked with raw juice and scales, and I was so happy that I didn’t have to touch a thing to get them clean again.
Mess is a part of life. I know I can’t avoid it, and for the most part I don’t even really mind it. But when my hands are so dirty that I can’t wait to get clean, that’s when the Lysol No-Touch Hand Soap System< is there to help make my day a little easier. Every mother should have a Lysol No-Touch Hand Soap System in her household. Once you try it, you’ll wonder how you ever got by without it!
