Holiday Gift for Movie Fans

Who doesn’t love sitting down during the holidays to watch a great festive movie? From old classics to new favorites, there is no shortage of great titles when Christmas arrives. One of my absolute favorite new holiday movies is Elf, starring Will Ferrell. This is partially because I really enjoy Will Ferrell’s acting and partially because it is just an absolutely brilliant movie.

Elf ultimate collectors editionThe plot chronicles the adventures of a human that was raised by elves at the North Pole and travels to New York to find his birth father. The cheerful innocence of “Buddy the Elf” is a huge contrast to the harried and hostile attitude of most New York citizens. Yet his good-natured charm eventually wins over the hearts of the city’s residents as he falls in love, finds his family and eventually, saves Christmas.

This comical and touching tale is a sensational choice for a Christmas movie. It does have a PG rating and contains some sophisticated humor, mild violence and mild language that would make it more appropriate for older children and adults. The overall plot, however, is very family-friendly and the climax always brings tears to my eyes. Since Zackary and Benjamin are still so young, most of our family holiday movies are very mild cartoons, but when the kids are in bed my husband and I love to watch some of the PG holiday movies together. Elf is undoubtedly my favorite and I still laugh at Will Ferrell’s innocently destructive antics every time!

    My favorite is Frosty the Snowman…Classic, love it! My kids is between Elf and a Christmas story. Hubby's favourite, Polar Express. There are so many good ones. The classics never get old

    We haven't seen an adult movie in so long but I do enjoy Barbie in A Christmas Carol – my daughter and I just watched it this evening.
