Since first discovering printed labels for kids’ possessions, clothing and shoes, I have become a little bit label-obsessed. There are so many beautiful labels for kids that I can’t help but want to try them all. But sometimes I wonder why labels for adults aren’t just as popular. Having a convenient label on a coffee mug or work supplies could save time and energy in a busy day, but finding a simple and durable adult label really isn’t easy, and as tempting as it might be, using labels with race cars or princesses doesn’t really project an aura of professionalism.
LabelLighthouse.com has the answer with their affordable Stickins labels. These handy little labels can be used on everything from clothing to food containers to footwear. They sounded like a great choice for an adult’s labelling needs, and I was very excited when I was able to test them out and see how they worked.
I decided to get labels for my husband because he uses a great deal of equipment for his job and I knew he would appreciate a quick and easy way to mark his possessions. I also knew that the labels would get an incredibly thorough test, since truck driving can be fairly intense labour and can expose items to a variety of harsh substances.
When the labels arrived, I was impressed with the convenient size and the simple style. The labels were about one inch long with my husband’s first and last name printed on each one in a simple and easy-to-read font. I liked the way that each row of five labels was perforated so that I could separate a row of labels and apply them as needed.
I picked out a few different items to use for testing the labels and applied one of the small stickers to each one. The first item I labelled was my husband’s travel coffee mug. I wash it every day so I knew I would get a good idea of the label’s durability. Plus, it would help my husband quickly identify his mug at work!
I also applied labels to some of my husband’s safety vests and to his work boots. The Stickins are applied to clothing by sticking the label onto the laundry care tag and to footwear by applying the label to the tongue of the shoe or boot. Applying the labels was quick and easy, and they looked great!
The important thing to remember about Stickins labels is that the items they are used on should not be washed for at least 24 hours after applying a label. This allows the adhesive to strengthen for the maximum durable hold.
I washed my husband’s coffee mug the day after applying the label and have continued to wash it every day for the last two weeks. The label is still perfectly readable and completely adhered to the travel mug. I don’t have a dishwasher to test the durability of the labels in that situation, but the website claims they are dishwasher-safe and after seeing how durable they are I certainly believe that!
I have also washed my husband’s safety vests numerous times since applying the labels and they are still visible and properly adhered. I was a little bit worried about these labels since Curtis often ends up with grease, oil or any other number of chemical substances on his clothing. I was thrilled to see that not even the harsh automotive substances affected the labels’ durability!
The shoe labels proved to be just as durable, and I loved the idea of sticking them on the tongue of the shoe instead of on the inner heel. Shoe labels often have a hard time enduring the constant friction of the feet moving inside the footwear. By placing the label on the tongue, the wear to the label was significantly reduced to keep the labels staying in place and looking great.
I really enjoyed the Stickens labels from LabelLighthouse.com, and at only $24.95 for 60 labels and free shipping throughout Canada and the United States, they are as inexpensive as they are useful. For simple and durable labels at a great price, check out Stickins labels today!
