It took me a long time to consistently remember to bring a reusable bag to the grocery store and even now there are times when I forget my bags at home or in the car. I always feel frustrated with myself when I get to the till and I realize that I don’t have my reusable bags, but a large part of the reason the bags are so easy to forget is the fact that they are so unwieldy. The collection of bags stuffed into yet another bag is as big as my purse and very awkward to carry around. I often wished there was a more convenient way to carry my reusable bags.
Then I learned about ChicoBag, a company that is redefining the concept of reusable shopping bags with gorgeous designs, phenomenal durability and compact storage to make shopping with a reusable bag stylish and easy. I was thrilled when I was given the chance to review a few of the beautiful bags for myself.
I chose the Green Tea and the Cherry Blossom prints from the Blossom Collection to review. These amazing bags feature feminine floral prints and can hold up to 40 lbs! I couldn’t wait to get to the grocery store and test them out.
And getting them to the store was no problem thanks to the clever design of the bags. By turning the bag inside out, I was able to fold it and stuff it into the attached pouch printed with a miniature version of the graphic on the large bag. An included mini carabiner clip then let me attach the bag to my key ring or purse so that I would always have my bags with me.
Finally I was able to say goodbye to the bulky sack of reusable bags that I had put up with for so long. But I also needed to know that the bags were strong enough to deal with the groceries for our family. When we headed to the till to pay for our weekly food purchase, I pulled out the bags and started filling them.
I was able to fit an entire weeks’ worth of fruits and vegetables into one of the bags and all of the meat and dairy into the other. Both bags were very heavy, but the thick straps had no problem with the weight and I was so impressed both by how much the bags were able to hold and how strong the bags were.
The other thing that I really loved about the ChicoBag reusable bags was the length of the shoulder straps. Instead of a short strap that had to be carried by hand, the bags had a strap that was long enough to be slung onto my shoulder. Since I often have to hold Benjamin as I carry groceries, the fact that I could place the bag on my shoulder was incredibly convenient for me! I was able to carry one bag over my shoulder, hold Benjamin on my hip and carry the other bag with my other hand. Now that’s multitasking!
Of course, the beautiful designs of the bag were the cherry on top and I loved being able to pack my groceries into such beautiful bags. The Green Tea bag featured pink and purple flowers on a light green background decorated with geometric designs and the Cherry Blossom bag contained the image of a sparrow perched on the flowering branch of a cherry tree on a dark green background. I loved the green and pink colour scheme of the bags and the delicate Cherry Blossom print I found especially beautiful. Any time I can add a touch of femininity to my day, I am a happy woman!
