CardSwap.ca-Review and Giveaway

Like almost everyone, I sometimes get gift cards that I don’t need or won’t use. Whether the card is for a store I don’t visit or for products I just don’t need, there are all kinds of reasons why I might not use a particular gift card. But when someone ends up with a card they are never going to redeem, what can they do with it?

CardSwap.ca logoCardSwap.ca founder Frances Ho asked the same question and came up with a solution that is as creative as it is useful. When Canadians find themselves with gift cards they don’t need, CardSwap.ca will buy the gift cards for a discounted rate and provide the seller with cash they can use instead of the card that they can’t.

Then, visitors to CardSwap.ca can buy gift cards they want at a discounted rate. The seller gets cash for a gift card they won’t use, the buyer gets a great gift card at a cheaper rate and CardSwap.ca acts as the intermediary to ensure that all gift cards are valid, contain the correct amount of money and have no expiry date.

I tried out the service for myself by buying a $10 Chapters.com gift card. First I just had to complete a quick and easy free registration process and then I could purchase my card. Buying the card was a breeze thanks to the different payment options available and I used Interac Online to pay for the card directly from my bank account.

Physical gift cards are shipped for free after purchase, but one of the convenient things about CardSwap.ca is that online gift cards are emailed directly to the buyer after purchase so that they can be used at once. I knew right away that I would be using my Chapters.com gift card to buy the final novel in the Dean Koontz Frankenstein trilogy; I’d been waiting to read it for ages!

The entire process of buying a gift card was incredibly easy and I loved knowing that the card was guaranteed to be for the correct amount and valid, unlike purchasing a gift card on an auction site or through some other means.

Selling a card is just as quick and easy. Simply fill out a form on the website providing the name of the retailer, the amount of the card and your email address and CardSwap.ca will email you a quote for your gift card. If the quote looks good to you, you mail the card to CardSwap.ca, the company emails you as soon as they receive the card and mails out your payment within 48 hours of receipt and validating the amount of the gift card.

Whether buying or selling, there is no question that CardSwap.ca provides an incredibly useful marketplace for Canadians and if you have a gift card or two that you’re not going to use, do I have a deal for you! In an exclusive offer just for Mommy Kat and Kids readers, anyone that sells their gift cards to CardSwap.ca using the special button below will receive an extra $10 for their gift card! (Some restrictions apply; see coupon below for details.) There’s never been a better time to clean out your purse and exchange your currently wasted cards for cold, hard cash!

I was very impressed with how user-friendly CardSwap.ca was and I’ll definitely be checking the new cards on the website regularly. After all, I shop at places like Walmart, Winners and Best Buy anyways, so why wouldn’t I take advantage of the chance to save some money on my next trip?
