Dinosaur Train: Dinosaur Big City DVD-Review and Giveaway

I’ve mentioned before how much I enjoy the hit PBS series Dinosaur Train because of the new things that I learn when I watch the show with my boys. Recently, we got the chance to review the newest DVD of the series, Dinosaur Train: Dinosaur Big City. Here’s a brief synopsis:

dinosaur train dinosaur big city box artJoin Buddy, the Pteranodon family, and all their Theropod friends in a four-part adventure as they travel on the Dinosaur Train to Laramidia, the “Dinosaur Big City” for the Theropod Convention. At the convention, the kids reunite with Annie Tyrannosaurus and her parents, Delores and Boris. They all meet the multi-horned Mayor Kosmoceratops, and then Buddy and Tiny help King Cryolophosaurus overcome his fear of performing in front of his biggest audience ever!

The DVD contains the one-hour movie Dinosaur Big City, which airs today, August 22, 2011 to mark the start of Dinosaur Train’s second season. The DVD will be available tomorrow, August 23, 2011, and includes four bonus episodes and special features including colouring pages, an interactive game and a parent’s guide.

I loved the one-hour movie and I would definitely say it is the highlight of the DVD. I liked the introduction of a dinosaur city; it’s such a fun addition to the combination of modern and prehistoric elements that Dinosaur Train is known for. The Theropod Convention taking place in the big city provides plenty of entertainment, but it also provides plenty of opportunities to learn more about dinosaurs!

Of the various Dinosaur Train DVDs we have reviewed, I think this one is my favourite. I loved the variety of dinosaurs that Dinosaur Train: Dinosaur Big City introduced to my kids and me, and the stories were clever and engaging. And how could you not clap and sing along to King Cryolophosaurus, the amusing Dinosaur Train character that reminds one of a dinosaur Elvis? For “dinosaur big fun” that any aspiring palaeontologist will enjoy, check out this fun DVD today!

  1. I should know something, I went to Walking with the Dinosaurs show! But I got nothing, lol. Well, they come from eggs, lol. And baby T-Rex looks very cute!

  2. Fun dinosaur fact:

Around 65 percent of the dinosaurs were plant eaters (herbivores) and around 35 percent were meat-eaters (omnivores)

  3. I think its cool to think about the fact that the dinosaurs walked this earth LONG before we did, I mean, think about a world of nothing but HUGE dinosaurs and not a single human being? Its funny to think about, in my opinion anyhow! lol
