So far, my family has had a great time testing out the new technology and incredible comfort of some of the brand new 2012 Ford vehicles from Ford Canada. But one of the things that Ford is best known for is not its passenger cars but its trucks! Most men have lusted after a Ford F-150 at some point in their lives and my husband is no exception, so he was delighted when he learned that we would be test-driving the 2012 Ford F-150 SuperCrew FX4.
A truck is not what springs to mind when one thinks about a family vehicle, but the F-150 was incredibly comfortable even with all four of us aboard. With four doors and the extended SuperCrew cab, getting the boys into their seats was easy and there was just as much leg room as if we were in a car or van.
But as comfy as riding around in the cushy leather interior of the F-150 was, this was not a vehicle that was designed for family cruising. It was made to work and my husband was only too happy to put it to the test. In fact, on the very same day we picked up the truck, we scored two gorgeous solid wood bookshelves for our boys at a nearby garage sale. Thanks to the F-150, we were able to pop them in the box and drive them home!
The benefits didn’t stop there. As the week progressed, Curtis filled the box with sand to level off our front patio, hauled a load of topsoil to even out the lawn in front of our house and brought home the metal bars we needed to complete our back yard fence. With the Box Side Step and Tailgate Step he had no problem getting up into the box of the truck even with his back problems. And the ingenious Stowable Bed Extender let him carry a smaller or larger load safely and securely when necessary. It was awesome seeing some of our home improvement jobs that had been put off for so long finally being finished!
Of course, the Ford F-150 FX SuperCrew came with all the newest Ford technology including the MyFord Touch system, an EcoBoost V6 engine with the best-in-class fuel efficiency, the Easy Fuel Capless Fuel Filler system and much more. It took a little more gas to drive it around for the week than Ford’s incredibly economical passenger cars, but considering how much more we were able to do with the truck, it was worth every penny!
Ladies, we all know that when a man says he “needs” something, it usually just means that he wants it. But if you have a handyman or a do-it-yourself-er in your household, those constant comments about needing an F-150 might actually be true! I have to admit, I am way more willing to consider getting one of these fantastic vehicles someday now that I’ve seen how useful and versatile they truly are. If you need a truck that can go from working on the house or job site to driving around with the family, this is the truck for you. Why not take one for a test-drive today?
