Everyone knows that it’s better to give than to receive and this holiday season, Kellogg’s Rice Krispies cereal has everything you need to create a dazzling gift on a tiny budget!
Impressive, simple, and a fun activity for the kids, the signature Kellogg’s Rice Krispies cereal Holiday Ornament is new for Holiday 2012 and puts a fancy twist on everyone’s favourite – the classic Rice Krispies square! I recently received a Rice Krispies holiday decorating package so that I could try making these fun ornaments for myself and I couldn’t wait to get started.
Forming the mixture into balls was the hardest part since the string candy had to be inserted in the middle. I found that the balls fell apart a little bit after forming them but after letting the mixture cool for a few minutes, I was able to compact it a little better. And about ten minutes after that, I gave the ornaments a final shaping before popping them into the fridge to harden.
After that was the fun part: decorating the ornaments! With nothing more than two colours of fondant and some silver dragees, I was able to create a plateful of colourful, festive ornaments! I popped four of them into gift bags and decorated the bags with silver mini ornaments and ribbon. The rest of the treats were wrapped in plastic wrap and hung on our tree!
