Maestro Classics Carnival of the Animals is Zoological Music Kids Will Love-Giveaway

The Maestro Classics Stories in Music collection is one of my very favourites series in children’s music. I absolutely love the way that the CDs marry engaging stories with stunning classical music tracks to ensure that some of the most acclaimed music in the world becomes a family-friendly listening experience.

maestro classics carnival of the animalsThe newest release from Maestro Classics, Carnival of the Animals with the music of Camille Saint-Saens, is definitely one of the more child-friendly CDs in this series and I played it for the boys one day after school to see how they liked it. They had previously listened to the Maestro Classic CDs Mike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel and My Name is Handel, so they were familiar with the format of the CDs and sat down with me to enjoy the story.

This particular release is less of a story than it is a celebration of the animal kingdom. French composer Saint-Saens dashed off the piece for a Mardi Gras festival but the narration introducing each animal’s musical piece was added later. The boys loved all the different animals that were featured and I liked the way that the music encouraged them to think about the characteristics of a certain animal as they were listening to its theme. It was a great way to spend some time together on a weekday afternoon!

Maestro Classics wants your family to enjoy a fun listening experience too, so the company is very generously offering one lucky Mommy Kat and Kids reader their own copy of the Maestro Classics Carnival of the Animals CD. To enter to win, just leave a blog comment about your favourite animal.

I am so happy to have another one of these fabulous CDs featuring the London Philharmonic Orchestra to enjoy with my boys. They’re a fabulous lesson in musical appreciation and have so many kid-friendly features incorporated into each one. From the activity book that accompanies the CD to the About the Composer section that follows the music, Maestro Classics Stories in Music are an interactive listening experience for the whole family and Carnival of the Animals is no exception.

  1. As a manly man the choice is clear – the ferocious Panda. They may look cute and cuddly, but take a swipe at their bamboo stick and you’ll see why they put the B in Bear.
