The Crock-Pot Smart-Pot Slow Cooker Makes Hearty Winter Meals Easy

Winter in Saskatchewan is very snowy and very cold, so hot and hearty comfort food is always a welcome choice for supper. And because my days are pretty busy, I love whipping up that comfort food with a Crock-Pot slow cooker whenever possible. Throw in the ingredients in the morning, plug it in and my boys and I have a delicious meal to enjoy when suppertime arrives. What could be better?

The large oval cooker was perfect for pot roast or a whole chicken but it was a little big for soups, stews or desserts. The smaller round Smart-Pot looked like it would be just the right size for a smaller main course meal for my family.

I loved the fact that the slow cooker featured easy one-button programming. It made choosing the proper setting quick and easy; I simply set the cooker to 8 or 10 hours on Low or 4 or 6 hours on High. When the time was up, the Crock-Pot switched to the warm setting automatically! Since the weather has been quite cold lately, I decided to make chili, one of the boys’ very favourite meals, for dinner with the new slow cooker. As I had suspected, the round shape and slightly smaller size of the slow cooker was perfect for cooking the meal. And with removable and dishwasher-safe stoneware, cleanup was a breeze too!

Crock-Pot slow cookers are the only brand that I have in my house because I can trust them to provide me with great results every time. The handy one-button programming helps save me time and since the device switches to the warm setting automatically, I never have to worry about leaving a meal cooking for too long. Best of all, the slow cookers help make it so easy for me to cook delicious suppers for my boys without spending hours in the kitchen! 1. We really love our slow cooker as well and have always used Crock Pot slow cookers. I really want to get a smaller one as I have the big oval one. I want to have two going at the same time – main dish and sides!

    1. Ooh, now that’s something I should be trying! Thanks for the idea, Jen! :) Yes, having the smaller round one has been really handy for me too; the oval one is great for some things but having the choice is awesome!

        1. Crispy bacon is a no-go, though some recipes call for cooking it first and then adding it to whatever you’re making to give it that rich bacon flavour.

Fast cooking options are better accomplished by using other handy kitchen tools such as pots and frying pans. ;)
