How Would You Spend the $50,000 Royale #GoldenKitten Grand Prize?

February 9, 2013 by Kathryn 28 Comments

There’s nothing I love more than daydreaming about the things I would do with a sudden windfall of money. Whether I’m spending millions in imaginary lottery winnings or a smaller imaginary raffle prize, it’s always fun to plan out how I’d use the money if I won, so that “I’m ready just in case.” And right now, Royale is asking Canadians what they would do if they had $50,000 to spend!

Now while I love daydreaming, the truth is that I’m incredibly practical when it comes to money. So while I would be thrilled to come into such a large amount of money, I wouldn’t be running to the mall with it! Instead, my first priority would be on securing my family’s future by paying down our mortgage. A $20,000 payment would make a huge dent in the total amount of the mortgage and would mean paying it off a decade earlier.

But the fun and excitement don’t stop there! After that it would be time to put some money towards some much-needed renovations. Our house currently has an unfinished addition and I dream of the day that it’s finally complete. Bigger bedrooms for the boys and I can finally enjoy the master bathroom and sweet walk-in closet. With $15,000 or so, I would be able to make that dream a reality. And the spare room could double as a library, something I desperately need with my extensive book collection!

Finally, it would be time to spoil my boys with a hefty $10,000 deposit into their collage funds. At three and six, it’s the furthest thing from their minds. But I don’t see tuition going down any time soon, so the more I can save for them now, the happier they’ll be in fifteen years or so!

With that, our $50,000 windfall will almost be gone, but I’ll have lots to show for it! And that final $5000 will be all fun! I’m thinking a family trip to Disneyland might be in order! And then Mama may just have to spoil herself with a new pair of Loubouins for the trip!

For one lucky Canadian, the dream of spending $50,000 is going to come true as Royale celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Royale Kittens with the Golden Kitten Promotion! Royal will be hiding 440 Golden Tickets in specially-marked Royale products and giving away an additional 60 Golden Kitten tickets online at royale.ca and on the Royale Kittens Facebook page. If you find a ticket, just enter its pin code online to instantly win amazing prizes ranging from WaySpa gift cards to Samsung TVs. But the best part is that one lucky Golden Kitten Ticket recipient will win the grand prize of $50,000!

Whether you’d blow your winnings on a few expensive luxuries or carefully invest them for future fun, there’s no doubt that a prize like that would make a pretty big impact on anyone’s life! So visit the Royale website and see how you can get your hands on a Golden Kitten Ticket and your chance at $50,000!

How would you spend the money if you won?

Disclosure – I am participating in the Golden Kittens Blog Tour by Mom Central Canada on behalf of Royale. I received compensation as a thank you for participating and for sharing my honest opinion. The opinions on this blog are my own.

I hate unfinished renos. It drove me crazy when we moved into our house and were doing a little bit of work at a time. So yes getting that done would be a top priority for me too.

Yes, it is crazy! My friends had a little house to live in while doing the renos on their big house; I so wish I could do it that way!

I would pay off my truck! That loan is takes a massive chunk of our income every month. Then with the left over whopping $4000 I would put it towards our moving fund.

That is SUCH a good plan! Even though it eats up all the winnings, you’re sitting pretty after with all the extra money each month!

I would fix up the rental house we are in and get us out of debt. Anything after that I’d probably invest in savings.

I would use it to pay a year’s worth of rent so I don’t have to worry about that part. Then, with the rest, I’d get my car fixed up. I don’t need a new car, I just need to make a few fixes to the one I already have. After that, a vacation for sure!

I would pay off some of my debts, plan a family vacation with all 6 kids, go on a cruise with Frank and I, and then save some for a rainy day!

Hmm… I’m not Canadian, but I would probably use it to pay off a few bills and fix up some things around the house we have been meaning to do. Nothing fancy, but it would make our home more energy efficient and keep us more comfortable. 🙂

I would give it all to student loans and have nothing to show for it, but I’d feel much lighter. 🙂

The Louboutins are mighty gorgeous though, I gotta say!

I would put $40,000 of it into our retirement fund, yes it is actually going happen at some point in 2013 :). The last $10,000 I would use to have an amazing fall trip to the East Coast. We have traveled west many time but never east, this year we are finally going East. And uhmmm FYI Kat, I’m hoping you weren’t thinking that you would be walking around DisneyWorld in those shoes cause you wouldn’t survive the first day lol.
