As a Saskatchewan woman, I am a huge fan of lentils not just for their flavour and nutritional benefits but also because Saskatchewan is the world’s largest exporter of lentils. I may be slightly prejudiced, but in my opinion, they’re one of the most perfect foods in existence, providing fibre, protein, folate and iron while also being a great vegetarian option and incredibly reasonably priced.
But even though lentils are a staple in my kitchen, I’m still always looking for new ways to cook with them and luckily for me, celebrity chef Michael Smith recently went travelling around the world to track down the very best lentil recipes in his new web series, Lentil Hunter!
From Morocco to Italy and India to France, Chef Michael Smith found all kinds of lentil delicacies that I can’t wait to try. The Crispy Lentil Fritters from Dubai have my mouth watering already and the Umbrian Lentils & Sausage from Norcia sounds like such a perfect hearty supper. But as if discovering the world’s best lentil recipes wasn’t reason enough to watch the Lentil Hunter webisodes, you could also win a chance to meet Chef Michael Smith in person in Prince Edward Island this July!
Just spot the Mini-Chef in each of the five Lentil Hunter episodes and then enter your information for a chance to win a trip for two to Prince Edward Island to attend the Village Feast event from July 4-7, 2014 with Chef Michael. But you only have until May 31, 2014 to enter, so don’t delay! Visit loveyourlentils.ca to enter and for full contest details.
