Growing up in a small town, my boys have always had lots of different ways to get active. From organized sports to playing at the park with friends to jumping on the trampoline in our own back yard, getting moving is not something that should be a problem. Yet I know that there are still some days they don’t get the recommended sixty minutes of physical activity a day. And they’re not alone. Studies show that nine out of ten children aren’t getting enough exercise each day!
Canadian Tire wants to change that, so the company is launching a fun new program just in time for summer. The goal is simple…turn off those electronic devices, get outside and play! Then share your pictures and videos using the #WannaPlay hashtag to show Canada how you and your family wanna play this summer.
Personally, my two boys love a challenge to get them moving. And their recent summer Scouts camp was the perfect place for that. By stringing large ropes up in a well-wooded area, the boys got to test their muscles and their balancing skills by walking along the ropes from one tree to another. They had so much fun and got a lot of exercise at the same time!
To celebrate the launch of the #WannaPlay program, Canadian Tire is hosting a fantastic Twitter party that you won’t want to miss! On June 16 at 8pm EST, come join in the #WannaPlayChat to discuss all the ways your family loves to get active and play together. Special guest and Olympic champion Hayley Wickenheiser will be hosting the party as well!
There’s no RSVP required and Canadian Tire gift cards to be won, so come chat about all the ways you can get active this summer. If you’re new to Twitter parties, consider following along on Twubs. Then get outside, take a few pictures or shoot a quick video and share it online tagging @CanadianTire and using the #WannaPlay hashtag! It’s a fun way to encourage families to get active and show off all the ways your family loves to play!
