As a mother, I have to say that I’m amazed just how many tips and skills my own mom passed along to me. From favourite Finnish family recipes that I now make for my boys to a belief in the importance of unstructured imaginative play, her parenting techniques have, in many ways, become my own. Even my love of reading and writing comes from my mom!
Canadian Olympian and P&G brand ambassador Brianne Theisen-Eaton, from my own home province of Saskatchewan, has learned a lot from her mom as well. Like me, she became an avid home cook because of her mother’s influence. And thanks to the support of her family, she currently holds the Canadian record for heptathlon! This adorable video explains why she’s thinking “Thank you, Mom!” as she prepares to compete in the Pan Am Games.
One of the other traits I inherited from my mom was a dislike of cleaning, which is exactly why P&G products are a must in my house! When it comes to a tidy home, I clean smarter rather than harder and products including Tide, Bounty and Dawn make that easy. I was a very messy child and so I have many memories of my mom pre-treating my clothes with Tide before washing to get rid of the many stains. With two active boys of my own, it’s a tip I use almost every time I do laundry!
If you’d like to chat with Brianne Theisen-Eaton yourself, you’ll want to make sure you join in the #ThankYouMom Twitter party tonight at 8pm EST! There’s sure to be plenty of heart-warming and inspiring conversation! Then make sure to cheer on Brianne at the Pan Am Games as she represents Canada thanks to her mom’s support and her own dedication. And don’t forget to think about how your mom has inspired you and take a few minutes sometime soon to say, “Thank you, Mom!”
