This darkly humorous rendition of the popular children’s books stars Neil Patrick Harris as the evil Count Olaf and will have school-aged kids booing the villain as they cheer for adorable orphans Klaus, Violet and Sunny. I was impressed by just how well this series was able to offer entertainment suited to both kids and adults. Even if you don’t have kids at home, you’ll want to check it out!

To help you get pumped up for some weekend binge-watching, check out the official trailer for Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events. Personally, I love the way this series brings some laugh-out-loud humour to pretty dark situations, and Neil Patrick Harris’s energetic performance just makes the whole story come alive.

It can be hard to decide when your kids are ready for more dark and serious themes when watching new shows. With my own boys, I’ve found that my oldest took a little longer to embrace more adult themes, while my youngest was ready for darker content far earlier. This show is a great way to gently introduce your kids to some slightly more grown-up content in a way that’s still fun and entertaining. You may just be surprised at what they’re ready to watch!

And even if your kids are still too young for this hot new Netflix exclusive, make sure to check it out yourself once the little ones are tucked into bed. It’s a great unique entertainment choice that will have you laughing, tearing up and hoping against hope that good triumphs over evil in the end!

  1. Have you ever thought about including a little bitt more than just your articles?

I mean, what you say is valuable and everything.
But think of if you added some great visuals or video clips tto give your posts more,
“pop”! Your content is excellent but with pics annd clips,
this website could undeniably bee one of the best
    in its field. Wonderful blog!

  2. Didn’t think I was going to enjoy this as much as I am. My son asked to watch this series with him and we Finished Episode 6 last night and looking forward to the next 2 episodes. Neil Patrick Harris is brilliant.
