Are You a Cheater? Netflix Canada Shares the Stats on Streaming Ahead without Your Partner

The study has been done, the statistics are analyzed and the sad truth has been revealed. Canadians are doing far too much cheating. No, of course I’m not talking about actually stepping out on your devoted husband or loving wife! I’m talking about Netflix cheating…binge-watching that show you promised to watch together because you just can’t wait to see what happens!

Now I’m picky about what I watch so when I do find a show I love, I’m actually pretty committed about waiting for my husband to be ready to sit down with me as well. We’ve binge-watched Stranger Things, Master of None, both seasons of The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, The OA and more, never once sneaking ahead on each other to see what happens.

But every once in a while, my husband’s crazy work hours mean that he just can’t stay awake long enough to finish the show we JUST started…and I’ve been guilty of conveniently “not noticing” that he fell asleep and finishing the episode anyways!

Wondering how your own cheating ways might compare to other Canadians? Check out this fun infographic with information on those that stream ahead, those that don’t and even those select few that think watching without your partner is as serious as actually having an affair!

Looking for a show so good that you just can’t resist sneaking ahead when you get the chance? Make the right choice and you may just be able to get away with binging alone! I know my husband didn’t mind at all when I had a marathon session of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life! And while the kids may be a little miffed if you watch Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events without them, it’s entertaining enough that you likely won’t mind keeping your little secret and sitting down to watch it one more time with them.

Personally, I don’t think I’ll ever be much of a Netflix cheater, because for me part of the pleasure of watching a series is getting to talk about it with my husband when we’re done. In fact, if it wasn’t for him, I likely wouldn’t watch much of anything! But whether you’re the cheating type or not, finding something to watch as a couple or a family is easy with the newest Netflix hits. Find a favourite and watch together…or sneak off to do a little cheating on your own!

I have no one to cheat on so I don’t have that problem. I watch what I want, when I want it. Just one of the joys of being single!
