Spring Cleaning Gets a Thumbs-Up with Netflix

April 14, 2017 by Kathryn 20 Comments

It’s a moment every parent has experienced. The house is clean, the kids are tucked into bed, and there’s finally a spare minute to sit down and relax. So, you decide to grab the remote and browse Netflix for a new series or movie only to select your profile and see suggestions for…Teen Titans Go? Paw Patrol? POKEMON??! Yes, once again, the kids accidentally started watching cartoons on your profile, and now you have to sift through the mess to find something to watch.

Well never fear, because Netflix is here with a solution! Like what you see? Give it a thumbs-up to keep getting similar suggestions! Need to clean out the kids’ clutter? A thumbs-down ensures you’ll never see that suggestion again. Think of it like spring cleaning for your Netflix account!

Personally, I don’t mind some of the boys’ favourite movies being in my suggestions. But when it comes to repetitive cartoon series with dozens of seasons, I’d rather not, thanks! I already know the Beyblade Metal Fusion theme song by heart and even sat down to watch one or two episodes with my oldest when he first discovered the series. I have nothing against it, but I don’t want Netflix suggesting I watch it on my own time!

To be completely honest, cleaning out my Netflix suggestions is pretty much the only spring cleaning I’ve done this year. Being pregnant has sapped my motivation a bit, but at least I can get my profile organized even when I’m sitting on the couch relaxing! And with my Netflix account ready for when I want it, I may just be a little more motivated to do some real cleaning too! Try the new feature for yourself and see how fun and easy spring cleaning is with Netflix.

Wow, I didn’t know about the thumbs-up nor thumbs-down, that’s fantastic as my grandkids tend to mess it all up and then it means searching for ever and a day to find mine. 🙂

Wow, I didn’t know you could do this! Definitely going to do a Netflix spring clean as all 5 of my daughters have accidentally watched shows on my account and it’s littered with their stuff. Thanks for the tip!

That’s a great idea, I always see shows or movies listed as suggested that I’m not interested in and wasn’t sure how to make them go away, thanks for the tips

We do not have netflix. However, I am actually into Spring Cleaning and I am always amazed at how much ‘stuff’ we accumulate. I am making a real effort to really be effective in sorting out things to be donated or sold or put in the garbage.
