I have incredibly soft skin and it’s something that I want to maintain for as long as possible. So I’m quite proactive about making sure that my skin stays healthy and moisturized. Unfortunately, living in Saskatchewan and dealing with its harsh winter weather, that can be difficult to do! This winter was an especially hard one, but it’s finally come to a close and now that it has, I want to step up my beauty routine and ensure that I’m ready to bare a little skin this summer!
Healthy skin is something that I achieve in two simple steps: exfoliating and moisturizing. For exfoliation, I often make my own body scrub using kosher salt or sea salt, olive oil and essential oil. It works great and leaves my skin so smooth. And best of all, it takes just minutes to make! [Read more…]
Last year I shared some of the fun and useful videos created by Mag Ruffman and Lowe’s Canada that let children create their own fun building projects. My boys had a great time using duct tape, PVC pipe and metal bolts to make their own PVC Camp Stools and both of them still have those chairs today! While the project needed a small amount of adult participation as far as cutting the pipes and drilling the holes, most of it was done by my kids and it gave them a great introduction to using tools and building on their own.
Now Mag is back again with a new series of Lowe’s kids DIY videos, this time aimed at tweens! From a Swinging Treehouse Lounger to a fancy Cat Condo, these projects will let older children get their hands dirty and use simple building supplies and techniques to create cool projects they can actually use! Christmas is my absolute favourite time of year and I love adding a homemade touch to my holiday season any way I can. While store-bought treats and decorations are nice, there’s something especially heartwarming about making Christmas treats, crafts and presents myself whenever possible. Of course as a mother, I’m usually incredibly busy, so the homemade touches I add to Christmas have to be ones that are quick and easy. Here are my top three easy home décor projects for a homemade Christmas:
White Christmas Tree
Holiday decorating doesn’t get any easier than this! Just use white spray-paint to coat a few tree branches and then mount them in a pail or pot filled with gravel. Decorate the trendy tree with sparkling metallic ornaments for a look that is fresh and modern, but still festive. I created my own ornaments by covering foam eggs with chrome paint and adding wire hangers for a quick and stylish display, but store-bought ornaments will work just as well too. [Read more…]

The Lysol No-Touch Hand Soap Dispenser is a product that’s made hand washing a lot more popular in our household. But the dispenser itself is certainly a product designed with adults in mind and not kids! Since children love using the dispenser so much, Lysol Canada wants to see how your child can turn the Lysol No-Touch Hand Soap Dispenser into a kid-tastic creation. And the company is featuring a fabulous Facebook competition to see just how creative your kids can get!
To help kick off the fun, Lysol sent our family a No-Touch Hand Soap Dispenser to decorate and since Easter is just around the corner, my youngest son Benjamin and I spent the morning turning the dispenser into a friendly bunny.
